Oktoberfest
Märzen 5.6% ABV 30 IBU von Trapp Brewing Stowe, VT Our Oktoberfest is brewed with a blend of light and dark Munich Malts, which not only add to its depth but deliver a residual sweetness. Caramel and toffee notes linger but are balanced by the subtle hops additions in this beer. We use Hallertau and Tettnanger hops which add a floral yet peppery aroma to this beer. It’s our take on this traditional fest beer. Serving Sizes: Pint
Ardent Pilsner
Pilsner - German 5% ABV 36 IBU Ardent Craft Ales Richmond, VA *Bronze medal winner: 2018 Great American Beer Festival* Ardent Pilsner is a clear, golden pilsner with classic lager aroma that is clean and bready, with light grassiness from Hallertauer mittelfrüh noble hops. Medium body and effervescence highlight soft bitterness, malty sweetness and mild fruitiness. Ardent Pilsner is a crisp, refreshing German-style pils that finishes dry and clean with a creamy, long-lasting head that leaves rich lacing. #neverstoplagering. Serving Sizes: Pint
Nephology Series: Vic Secret
IPA - Imperial / Double New England / Hazy 8% ABV 10 IBU Three Notch'd Brewing Charlottesville, VA Developed in 2000 in Victoria, Australia, this big fruity hop is a sister to Topaz and has descendents from England, Europe and North America. The hop gives the beer a big tropical fruit profile, particularly pineapple and passionfruit. Serving Sizes: 12oz Draft
Piña Colada Fizzee
Hard Seltzer 5% ABV The Veil Brewing Co. Richmond, VA Hard Seltzer brewed with Coconut and Pineapple. Awesome summertime cocktail vibes, super crushable. Gluten free, vegan and delicious. Serving Sizes: 12oz Draft
Pumpkin Ale
Pumpkin / Yam Beer 7.3% ABV Alewerks Brewing Company Williamsburg, VA This amber colored ale is loaded with Pumpkin pie aroma and flavor. It actually does taste like Pumpkin pie! At 7.3% ABV, it will keep you warm on a cool Autumn eve. Serving Sizes: Pint

Sorely underwhelmed by this experience. The notice of a 45-minute wait when we arrived didn't dispel us, as we patiently enjoyed our drinks and took a look at the storefront on the other side. Other patrons waited with children in tow, eventually inquiring about their meal, which arrived 5-10 minutes later. Four kitchen staff manned the back of the house, yet somehow food hardly trickled out to the dine-in customers, less slowly for to go customers.

We ordered a French dip, an Italian sandwich, and a pimento dip, but only the sandwiches came out. When I brought it up, the server offered to give it to us to go. How this was missed is beyond me, since they had ample staff and one was there SOLELY to manage the timing of tickets. Perhaps a new system or a more capable employee should be assigned this responsibility.

The food was objectively good, the French dip offered a made-in-house horseradish and simple jus, the Italian had a slight spice with cherry pepper which impressed bite by bite. Unfortunately, I can't say the quality of the food, nor apologies of the servers could ever make up for the poor execution. I read other reviews that pointed to this, and I initially scoffed, but now I must relent and agree with such accurate depictions of inadequate service.

I may indulge in their food again, but until some real changes take place with the back of the house, I'd prefer not...

I tried lunch at Union Market for the first time today. Based on the meal I had, they deserve five stars; however, I'm reluctant to give then five since this was my first visit.

You'll find it tucked neatly in a residential community as if it belongs. It doesn't look "out of place" based on location. It's a small market with indoor and outdoor seating for customers. I browsed the shelves of market items while waiting for my to-go order. Definitely a unique selection if you have a desire for healthier choices.

I ordered the "pick two" combo where you're able to mix and match sandwich, soup, and said options. I chose the sweet potato soup and chopped salad. I jumped out on a limb going that there sweet potato soup would not only have a hint of sweetness, but that it would also have savory tones. And guess what? It did! It's absolutely wonderful - you have the sweetness associated with the potato and at the end there's a burst of flavor! I played my soup with the chopped salad. I wanted a basic salad with a little twist. The chick peas and feta have met the little twist I was looking for.

I look forward to visiting a few more times in the upcoming weeks to TEST consistency. My thought is five stars are coming! Happy...

I’ve been coming to this place for years. The majority of the people there are pleasant and we greet each other with great energy. There’s this one lady that I’ve noticed over the past year or so that has this nasty attitude and not sure if it’s a color thing or not. Every time she’s the server behind the bar and/or working the to-go window, I cringe at talking to her. Just recently, I ordered food online during my lunch break around 11:30 AM and went to pick up. I ring the to-go bell and she opens the window, not even a hello or to lower to say hi (window is slightly higher). Just shoves the food through the window. I asked “can you place my food in the bag please?” She takes a bag, and SHOVES it through the window while I’m handing her my food to bag it. She then says “I’m giving you a bag.” Real snobbish. I frown at how’s she acting and she mocks me by frowning too as if to say “what’s your problem?” Always been to this place, after work, during work, on days off, even shopping in the store/bodega to buy little nick nacks. This has always been my place because of the vibes. That was TOTAL disrespect...

What makes Union Market great is that the beverage selection is unparalleled among local brunch /lunch spots! They have high quality coffee: hot or cold brew, along with a great variety of craft beers and wines, served in house or to-go. I love their sandwiches and the healthy, properly dressed side of greens that come with the sandwich. The staff is always friendly and clearly communicates the wait time. If you go during lunch hour, especially on a nice day, be prepared to wait 45 minutes to an hour. While they're not fast, it's worth the wait..and again, you can consume all the tasty beverages while you wait. They also have an interesting wide selection of local sweets, meats, and condiments to browse, too. If you can't find a seat inside or outside on the patio, you can always get it to go and enjoy at one of the many local parks nearby, like Jefferson, Libby Hill, or Chimborazo. Be sure to check their Instagram before you go! Usually just before noon, they post a picture of the drool-worthy daily special. 🤤

What a beautiful place to celebrate my Mothers Day Brunch outside on the patio with my kids. They brought me here specifically because they have vegan option that are really great so.. I had the vegan club sandwich which was very good. The only thing about it that I didn’t like was every time I hit into it the toppings would slide out. But, taste wise, I really liked the sandwich, it came with chips or a salad, and we went inside the market to buy some juice. We tried 2 different ones, orange mango and orange pineapple. Out of the 2, the orange mango was the winner. All 4 of us preferred it over the pineapple although both were good. Cost wise, it’s expensive $6.+. But, it’s only 3 ingredients so it was worth it for a nice sized bottle. I will venture back one day soon to try something else. My only suggestion is if you go here, don’t come starving because they are very busy and your food is going to take a long time to come out. Ours took 45 minutes. Worth the wait though.
