We called in a to-go order last night. We’ve been in Richmond about a week and I wanted three sauces just in case because the food so far was lacking in flavor a little bit, though good. I got there and it was PACKED, about 20 men on motorcycles plus a lot of other customers. Every single person was so incredibly friendly. It was a quick in and out because my order was sitting waiting for me, but it was really pleasant. I got back to the hotel and saw one of the sauces spilled, so I put a towel down to take everything out, wondering if not having the sauce would make a difference. I took one bite of the chicken kabob and knew the sauce spilling wouldn’t matter because it was so so so so good I wouldn’t even be touching it. They were out of beef and lamb, which my friend really wanted, but between the two of us we said “god this is so good”, “this is the best food we’ve had by far” and more NUMEROUS times while eating. It was the kind of food you do a little happy dance over. I tried ordering on doordash first but doordash immediately canceled it. I’m so glad we stuck with it and did pick up over the phone because normally I’d never do that, I’d just pick somewhere else on doordash. Nothing I could’ve picked would’ve made the convenience of delivery worth missing out on that food. Every single thing was so good. I’m not in Richmond a lot but I know where I’m going when I am. It was a great experience, the food was amazing. Serving sizes were more than worth the price. It’s funny because we usually pick a bit and don’t eat a ton but it was so good we overate lol we knew we’d eaten too much, but we chose bloated over putting that food away. And I’d...
Read moreTL;DR: The meat was really well done, a decent variety of items. Their sides need a little bit of work and they need to work on their order filling process. This place has to potential to be 5 Star with a little bit of work, I hope to go back and see some of the things I mentioned have been fixed and I can change this to 5 star.
Context: we arrived with 7 people and there were ~4 that walked in right after us, so we did kind of swamp them all at once. It took a while for them prep all the plates/wraps and they kept going back and forth and it took a while to get things done and stuff was quite out of order. But, in the end we all got the right stuff.
As stated above their meats were fantastic, moist, flavorful... would definitely come back for them.
Where they were a little lack luster is their sides. Their tabbouleh was basically just chopped tomatoes and cucumbers with barley any parsley/bulger/lemon/etc... It was fresh, but tasteless. Their salad had some great toppings and they definitely seemed to take care with preparation of dishes (like their hummus they topped with some seasoning and some olive oil). But the lettuce was just some very light colored shredded...
Read moreScott's Shawarma is an absolute culinary delight that brings the vibrant flavors of the Middle East to life. I have been to the new location several times since they opened. The hummus, baba ganoush, and tabbouleh are always bursting with aroma and authenticity, creating a perfect prelude to the mouth-watering falafel and chicken shawarma sandwiches generously stuffed with fresh vegetables. I order mine on pita, but my friend's regularly gets hers on saj bread and says it is also delicious. What truly sets this restaurant apart is Scott himself – a friendly and passionate owner who not only makes amazing food with care for special requests (i.e. extra sauces) and an expert level of speed, but also engages in lively conversations, filling the restaurant with laughter. Perfect for night owls, Scott's Shawarma stays open until 2:00 am, making it an ideal spot for students studying late or anyone catching grub on the way home from the bar. Scott's Shawarma offers an unforgettable, aromatic, savory Middle Eastern dining experience that goes beyond...
