Saturn Return — Local services in Richmond

Had an off-putting experience at this store today. I had picked out some clothes to try on and when I asked to use the changing rooms my purse was taken from me. Literally out of my hands without asking me first. Just the employee snatching it and telling me I couldn't have it with me. I get being worried about shoplifting but this was a small bag, I was not asked, and they could have just counted the items I went in with like every other store in existence does. It was 4 items not that hard to check especially with three employees in a small store. I got my purse back and handed it to my friend instead but the lack of permission and the fact they expected to take my phone and wallet out of my sight was really suspicious, creepy and off putting. Stuff like that is when an employee can take out your cards and write down their information. Literally one of the oldest versions of an identity theft scam. I loved this shop, and I had not had this done to me when shopping there previously, so I'm making this review to point out this inappropriate behavior and also the liability it puts the store in. If I had given over my purse like some people might have and then had anything happen that day on my phone or credit card the store would be my first suspect. The situation I was put in today is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Also it was really awful having my purse taken from me then have to argue it back, its my personal property I shouldn't have had it taken without my explicit permission. I hate social conflict like that. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon, not if this is the stores new norm of behavior, I don't need another source of social...

We had so much fun here. We're definitely coming back. I ended up taking a large gargoyle and two bookend gargoyles home with me. And then there was blackbirds 🤪 The staff was friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. You could tell they really enjoyed working there. Nice eclectic mix of Goth cowboy, dark academic core, etc I'll just say it was fun time. We had a great visit to Richmond. We were able to visit the Hollywood cemetery and another cute shop rest in pieces which was near the cemetery. Definitely worth planning a couple hours in Richmond to hit these three places. Super unique store in Richmond, and my new all time favorite place for clothing. I never knew a mixture of metal-vintage-western-goth was a style I needed in my life! All of the items I wear from here get me tons of compliments from anyone I run into. The owner and employees are amazing and the store is very organized and put together. Its so exciting to have such a great store locally and to buy “alt” fashion second hand, and know its something your other metal-vintage-western-goth friends aren’t going to have. I will not know true inner peace until my entire wardrobe is filled with items...
