Chicken Fiesta Downtown — Restaurant in Richmond

Not as good as it used to be.

I’ve been coming to this location a few years now, as it was one of my favorite local chains. I was going weekly, but I’ve cut back to once every couple of months mostly due to lack of consistency in food preparation.

Today I placed a phone order, with my mom picking it up for me. Upon unpacking the food I realized the side order of plantains was missing, and the Fiesta Salad only had 1 single half slice of tomato. The salad normally comes with four half slices (which is already skimpy, so 1 single half slice was just disappointing). With no time go back due to work/meetings and fix the order, I called in with the above concerns.

There have been times in the past when they’ve skimped on ingredients or overcooked something. I’ve always let it slide because no one’s perfect.

End result: tomorrow I may or may not stop back in and pick up the plantains and the phone rep said she would tell the kitchen about the lack of tomatoes.

Pros: Super friendly staff, quick service, clean establishment, and flavorful food

I'm a 14 year restaurant manager and this blew my mind. Ordered half chicken combo with an extra side item of the steak that comes with the quarter chicken and steak. Asked when ordered for it not to be cut in to pieces as last time it was horrible when chopped up as it's obviously chopped then cooked. Food came out it was cut up. The guy at the counter noticed it and went to get it fixed. 10 minutes later he walks out with the tiniest piece of steak I've seen saying his manager said this is what I get because it's a different steak. If it wasn't for already working all day I would have refunded my order and gone elsewhere (I've ordered this order 3 times now) first time it was a whole thin steak(amazing flavor) second time chopped and disgusting and third time now I've gotten a corner cut of the steak for an 8$ add on. Honestly don't let the fast food appearance fool you, this is quality food. When I ate meat, their rotisserie chicken was moist and delicious and tasted healthier than fried chicken. Now that I don't eat meat, I still love their vegetarian burrito grande. The yucca fries and the sweet plantains are great too and I always get extra yellow sauce because I love it more than I should.

I typically call ahead for pickup, but the inside is well maintained and the large rotisserie is visible behind the counter and is actually quite the spectacle (I personally appreciate it, but I imagine some vegetarians going in to try the veggie burrito might not want to dwell on it to long).
