I am the most positive person, but this was just a bad lunch experience all around: - for starters, we got a complimentary tiny bowl with 4 of the tinies olives in it. This generosity made me laugh out loud! (Because I was still in a good mood...) - my Sole Amandine was sitting in a pool of butter sauce, soggy, unhealthy, bad looking, yet tasty - too bad, I should have left it! - the accompanying rather small side of wilted green beans didn't help either, floating in the same pool of butter - the side of French fries, which also came in the tiniest of containers, was the true appetite killer: luke warm, soft and disgusting; I sent it back, and when the waiter came back with the new fries he simply slammed it on the table without even slowing his stride. Hmm, rude? -...and the piece de resistance? A check with an extra $29 added for wine we did not order - when I complained the waiter didn't even flinch, or apologize, shrugged it off saying "we'll just take it off the bill". Whaa'? Is this standard procedure at Luc's?? Needless to say Luc's is off of our list, you might want to scratch it, too!

This is my favorite French restaurant in CT. I travel about an hour and 15 minutes just to eat here and it's worth it! It's romantic and has really amazing food. It is on the pricey side but nice for special occasions or a date night. The restaurant does not take reservations unless it's for groups of 4+ so that is frustrating. I've gone and waited for 45 minutes for a table before and it's worth it. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They are super busy during dinner hours and weekends. They give you free olives and bread with butter. I recommend the croque madame (my favorite), duck confit, rack of lamb, potato gratin, Creme Brulee, and their hot chocolate! I'm giving them 5 stars because their food is just that good. Give it a shot!

Unless you are willing to risk being offended and insulted by the unpredictable behavior of the owner, do not visit this restaurant.

We arrived at 5:30 PM on Bastille Day - an admittedly busy day for French restaurants, though the restaurant was only about 3/4 full - to celebrate my father’s birthday. We arrived on the early side because they don’t take reservations for parties of 3. After asking the hostess for a table for 3, we were shown to what was clearly a table for 2 people - this was being used as a 2-person table across all other parts of the restaurant. We kindly asked if we could be given one of the 4 person tables that were empty (there were at least 2 available indoors, plus additional seating outdoors). The hostess said she would need to check with someone and walked away.

A few minutes later, an older French man (who we later learned was the owner) came up to us and said “This is our only table for 3. You can take it or you can leave.” as he pointed at the door.

This man, who we had never met, treated us despicably, with utter rudeness, arrogance, and contempt.

At this point, my father - who is also French - began speaking with the owner in French and expressed his disappointment with the owner’s attitude. The owner continued to act appallingly, saying he didn’t care how we felt he had acted and that we should just leave now, waving us away with his hand as if swatting a fly.

My father continued to express his offense as we left the restaurant. While walking out, the owner, following us, bizarrely said “Here, there’s a table outside.” My father asked the man in French if he really thought we would remain after this interaction.

Regardless of whatever else may have happened at the restaurant that day, there is no excuse for any person to treat another in this manner. I would encourage anyone considering visiting this restaurant to find another, or risk having an evening ruined by one of the rudest, most condescending people you...

I rarely take the time to create a review but I felt strongly about writing this. To start with the positives : the food was excellent. Although the portions are very small and prices are quite high, we did not receive anything that was not quite tasty. Also, the ambiance was wonderful. It was clean and inviting. Here are my issues with the restaurant. The service was not very good. Not everyone was given utensils, app plates, and we were never once asked how our meal was. Those issues are not even what I had an issue with. Our party of 8 had ordered salads, apps, four bottles of wine, dinners and dessert along with coffee. At the end of dessert the owner came by and told us we were going to have to leave soon as he had people waiting for our table. When we didn't leave shortly after (less than 15 min later) he came back and very abruptly and quite rudely told us to leave. As we have lived all over the world and traveled extensively I have never been told to leave (especially after we spent well over $800 on dinner)... There were a million other ways he could have handled moving us along, but his demeanor was so rude. I know that we will not return there and I am quite sure I will not ever recommend this establishment to friends...
