July 13 my birthday dinner with my family, party of 6. Our waitress was PERFECT but after we requested to see the manager for a kitchen era, it turned into a night I'll never forget. (NOT IN A GOOD WAY) My sister and I ordered medium well tenderloin tips, my order seemed to be fine but her order was a little pinker than what she wanted. The manager comes to the head of our table, we direct them to her, and instead of him listening to her complaint, he made sure to tell her, "that's the way we cook it here". As she continued to explain the condition of the cream spinach, spoon not even denting the cheese, he states, " you know that's cheese right".Her reply, " I know what cheese looks like I'm not illeterate." She passes the manager her plate and says, I'm nit looking for anything free I'd just like to enjoy my food the way I ordered it". He brings tenderloins out prepared to go, opens box and says," I made sure they were done for you". They were well done, I assume bc at this point my sister is LIVID! I'm in tears bc she angry and tells him he can take it back and she's not paying for it. It tosses it back on the table and says he's not taking it back and she's going to pay for it. I asked our waitress was this the owner she said yes. I was in shock. He told my sister she was rude and just walked away from the table. By now I'm in tears just scurrying to leave. Our family paid the waitress bought my cake from the refrigerator and presented it to me. I was in tears and just couldn't believe how my night had just got turned upside down. Crab cakes , tenderloin, stuffed shrimp, and wait staff were GREAT. Management was HORRIBLE. I ended my night feeling insulted and humiliated. To keep down confusion we paid for a full meal left on the table after being insulted by the owner. I patronize and support local and have patronized Shapley's several times and have never received service like this. Birthday dinner ruined by the owner thanks. Even on your worst day the customer is always right we were far from rude and...
Read moreThis was one of the best dining experience I have had this year. My family and I gift ourselves a dinner at nicer restaurant every Christmas season. This year we chose Ely's. From the time we arrived to the time we left it was a wonderful experience. We had the appetizers (eggplant and artichoke). The eggplant was amazing with the most delicious sauce topped with an generous portion of crab meat. We ordered 2 because one was not enough after we ate the first one. We planned to have dessert so we only ordered one steak (ribeye) to share. It was everything a steak should be, flavorful and tender perfectly prepared as ordered. One of the best items was the yeast rolls which was pillows of fluffy delight with soft butter. The dessert were so good especially for me; the warm cashew chocolate pie. My sister's Oreo cheesecake was an Oreo lover's dream come true. This meal was so good I did not take pictures, I just savored every morsel. The waitstaff was delightful and kept our drinks filled, table bused without being intrusive. Our server Cali S. had great timing. The Manager (Chris ?) stopped by every table to discuss the meals including ours. We really liked the fact that the restaurant was small enough that we could actually have a conversation with each other without noise pollution. If you want a wonderful dining experience I highly recommend this restaurant for all the reasons...
Read moreI was highly disappointed with the food and service, considering it was $176 for my wife and I to dine here. Our reservation was for 6:45, we arrived at about 6:35. We were asked to wait. Not a big deal, except 6 other parties came in after us and were immediately seated. Not a great start. We finally got a table at about 6:50. Our table was small, up against a wall, and my chair was right up against a doorway that people were regularly going though. The waiter came quickly and took our food and drink orders. Appetizer arrived at about 7:00, we had the crab cakes, they were pretty good. At about 7:10 they came and told us that the bartender could not make my wife’s mixed drink any time soon because he had cut his hand. Within 5 minutes, 2 other tables received mixed drinks. We then got our salads. My lettuce was hot. About 7:20 my wife flagged down our waiter to ask why other tables had gotten mixed drinks after we were told they weren’t making them anymore. He said he would get it for her, and did within a couple of minutes. We got our steaks at about 7:30 and they were okay, nowhere near as good as I was expecting for a 55 dollar steak. If this had been a cheap run of the mill steakhouse like Outback or Longhorns, it would be 3 stars, but with the price tag attached to Ely’s, it’s a...
