I had very positive experiences at the Ridgewood, NJ Toastique this past week. I grew up in the area, so during a visit, I wanted to check out some new restaurants and stores in town. I had Googled “Ridgewood Açaí” and the Toastique for this location came up on my screen. I could see it had many good ratings, and the Toastique website was very inviting. I decided to give it a shot, and I was extremely happy with my time there! My first visit was on Monday, 7/21. As soon as I entered, I was immediately greeted by the young woman behind the counter. She had a big smile on her face, and she was very helpful by giving me suggestions from the menu. Not only did she help me with my food choice, but she also assisted me with a technical challenge I had with Apple Pay. She could see I was having some difficulty with it, so she quickly gave me a tip as to how to access it from the locked screen. I am grateful she did this as I now won’t struggle at any check-out area going forward! On this day, I was also very kindly greeted by Laura, the owner. She was genuinely friendly and bubbly, and honestly showed she really loves her job! There was a large group inside the restaurant, and she explained to me that it was an “Open Write” group, giving local writers the chance to connect. She was visibly excited about putting together various events that can bring the community together. Laura set the standard for high-quality customer service and connection with the guest. As much as I adored the food at Toastique, I was drawn to returning there the next day due to my really pleasant experience there on Monday! Once again, I was not disappointed by the quality of the food. Laura saw me, and immediately came up to me to have a chat. I really felt like I was welcomed - this is such a rare experience at most places these days, let alone fast-moving, take-out-style establishments. I could also hear her and the other employees chatting a bit and laughing, really indicating to me that they liked working with one another and enjoyed being there. I want to thank Laura and her team for building such a lovely environment at the Ridgewood Toastique! I will be sure to be back with my husband the next time I am in the area, and I will tell all of my friends who still reside there that they should definitely pay a...
Read moreToastique is a beautiful cafe with a beautiful atmosphere. I was very excited to try them for the first time, but unfortunately my experience was ruined by the service and my purchase. I can’t speak on the food, but i ordered 2 iced lattes and they both tasted like a cup of oat milk. Therefore, i went back to ask if they could add more espresso. the 3 girls working had responses full of attitude and only cared about charging me extra, whispering under their breaths while making the drinks, with us standing right there. I was told “yeah well lattes are a lot of milk”, however i get lattes all the time, they’re not supposed to be ONLY milk with ice in a cup. By the time i paid extra for both shots of espresso, it came out to $7, basically another cup of coffee, except i walked out with no extra cup of coffee. So now, about $22 on 2 lattes later, it still did not taste right and went right to the garbage. I could have gone to starbucks instead, but i chose to support a new local business. Their staff should be spoken to and trained better on providing adequate customer service. Very upset about...
Read moreUpdate first: Seems I need to update everyday since I get to the habit to start my day here everyday when I’m in town. Everyday here is a new experience and always good karma. Surprised that Laura’s here so early today and was told that she ‘s here since 6am to prepare since her manager is on vacation this weekend. A great boss lead to great success to any business! I wonder why she came one hour before opening and decide to make a video recording. Check it out :)
A lot to say … pictures first :) … nothing more beautiful than all the smiles … best thing to start the day is to go to this little gem in Ridgewood … the owner’s smile and voice of “welcome” just bright up the day!
Update: With my extensive travel, I still own a lot of reviews… Happy to sit back here in the morning breeze and recharge myself with two shots of immunity +… missing Laura’s bright smile and her beautiful voice: “welcome”! I love this cute spot and down the street there’s my other role model Joanne, the owner of La lanterna. Beautiful ladies make Ridgewood such a charming...
