Del Taco — Restaurant in Rio Rancho

Tonight me and my family decided to go eat dinner at del taco on unser. We pulled up not realizing it was after 10 and we walked through the door not realizing what time it was, the keys where in the door and we were immediately yelled at to leave because it was closed, they just forgot to lock there doors. We got back in our car and went through the drive through and the lady was rude from the start. She was snapping at us while we tried to order and wouldn’t let my dad finish his sentences. By the time we got to the window we were all frustrated with this lady’s attitude. She then informed us that they were out of churros which we ordered and payed for and then asked if we wanted cheese bites which they were also out of. So she told us that we could come back tomorrow to get a refund but my dad asked for a refund on everything. She closed her window and gave us a refund for the churros ($4) and then my dad asked again if we could have a refund for our whole meal and she told us she doesn’t have the power to do that without the manager. So how exactly was she able to press a few buttons and give us a refund for our churros but not everything else? That makes no sense to me. So my dad asked her to give us our food and she told us that the lady’s in the back won’t allow her to give us our food after taking $20 from us. The lady’s in the back began to be very rude to us and kept waving there hands shrugging there shoulders and saying “bye”. They locked there window and called there manger. 10 minutes later they came back with the first half of our order and told us that that was all they could give us, we again asked for our nachos and they said that they could not give us them. So we again argued with the lady to give us the last of our 11 dollars back or our nachos and she told us if we do not leave they would call the cops. They locked there window and called the cops. Who ever hired this night crew definitely needs to make some changes. They are rude and disrespectful. We made them mad because we asked for a refund and all of a sudden you can’t give us our food? I’m sorry no. Refusing me my food after you already took my money and won’t give us a refund? Ridiculous. These people either need to clean up there attitudes or someone needs to make a change in this night crew. They were all rude from the time we walked through the doors that were apparently supposed to be locked, your fault not ours. And they gave us a nasty attitude when we were trying to order our food and then refused us a refund and our food. Not cool. Definitely don’t recommend this del taco to anybody. Good, simple food. Not really "Mexican" or "New Mexican" fare, but there is something for everyone at this place. My family has both omnivores and vegetarians in it, and since this place serves some of the Beyond Meat line, we opted to eat here. This place is open 24 hours which makes it ideal as a late night stop to get a quick bite. I got the chicken tacos, and a chicken quesadilla snacker (they came in a combo box with a drink and fries). The food is on the smallish side which isn't inherently bad. The flavor was mild, but the ingredients were fresh, and there are plenty of condiments you can add if you like that sort of thing (mostly hot sauces and salsa). My daughter ate my fries, which was fine with me. They were crinkle cut, and nothing really special, but they were freshly made so they were the best they could be. My husband got the 8 layer beyond meat burrito. I had a bite of it and thought it tasted delicious. The only thing I didn't like about it was the tortilla which seemed a little on the thin side. I've gone to this particular establishment 3 times and I don't plan on going again. Let's start with the 1st experience. I came here on my break since I work directly in the area. It was evening, not busy but not dead slow either. I ordered 2 regular hard shell tacos that took over 15 minutes for them to make and give me in the drive through! I didn't have time to eat before returning to work in the same parking lot. The 2nd experience I dealt directly with the manager, he made sure the food was out promptly (within 5 minutes of ordering!) and apologized for the 1st experience I had with the restaurant. So this prompted me to come back again, which brings us to the 3rd experience. This time I ordered 1 hard shell, 1 taco salad and a burrito It took them 20 minutes this time, the taco shell tasted old and stale, the burrito was great but the taco salad left much to be desired, again tasting like old food. I've never had Del Taco before coming to this place and quite frankly if it's like this every time, I do not plan to return.
