I use to really like this place, but recent customer service experiences have changed that. One time we came with the whole family, and they gave us an extra roll by accident. We thought we had ordered the roll because we ordered a lot. They left it there for several minutes and then realized they have made that mistake. They rudely came back to the table and picked it up to take it away, when we asked why they were taking it away they said it's not your roll. Mind you, this is during the pandemic, they can't pick it up off our table and hand it to somebody else. I guess they were anxious to throw it away. They said they could leave it if we wanted a charge on our bill. Despite having that poor experience we decided to try them again because we liked their food and we had been coming here for years. This time we got our food to go. Upon receiving scallops that were deep fried yet cold, we wanted to exchange it for a different roll. They weren't friendly or very accommodating but I am glad they did change the roll for us because we thought the scallops in our prior roll were supposed to be cooked but they were raw. Thankfully they did exchange the roll. Of course they made us pay the $0.45 difference. And no they did not apologize for undercooking the roll they were supposed to cook. The service is bad here. The food used to be really good but it's declining. And it's expensive! We paid $10 for five small pieces! The prices are going up and the quality is going down. We...
Read moreStopped in for some japanese as a healthier option on the road. Smaller restaurant clean and looked cute. Menu was promising. Took quite a few minutes to get our order in and the restaurant was emptying out. I asked which roll was better out of 2 different options and settled on the spicy girl which was the recommend one . My husband got the steamed sole. Came with a house salad with ok dressing but the miso soup was definitely from a package. The tofu always gives it away also the lack of flavor...Again quite the wait for not a busy time. My husband said he liked the sole but I found it extremely salty. It was cooked nicely though. My roll however was quite bland for a spicy option on the menu and when I attempted to get a servers attention they looked right at me but didnt acknowledge me. I tried again asking for some Sriracha sauce to try and get some heat. Even with that and wassabi it was just quite bland. I ate it because we were on the road and no time to reorder something different. They never checked on us or to see if we liked the food..we waited for anyone to notice we had finished. Finally we had to walk up to the counter to ask for the check. Then one of the girls said goodnight thank you, oh wait she has your bill still. Yes we know that. We were not going to dine and dash ,but thanks for giving us that wonderful service and charismatic goodbye upon leaving. Would not recommend. Not worth the money for bland tasting food and...
Read moreI have been here twice. The first was really good. I had the Ahi Poke Salad. It tasted very fresh! Service was good as well. It was the middle of the afternoon on a Monday. So not too busy.
I went last night, a Friday at 5:30pm and it was a very different experience. The restaurant was packed to the gills and the waitstaff was obviously stressed. It was just me and I was seated at a makeshift bar that they stack their to-go orders on. So the whole time I'm there, the waitstaff is bumping into me and stacking to-go orders up right beside me. I barely had room to move to eat my food.
I sat there for 10 minutes and finally got my water. Then I had to flag down a random server to get my order in. It was like I was completely invisible as they attended to the tables in the dining room.
I ordered the Lion King Roll. A Sushi roll with crabmeat, avocado, and baked salmon. It was just ok. I've had much better fresh sushi from grocery stores in the Midwest, like Hy-Vee. Seriously.
After receiving my food. I never saw a server again. I just got up and paid for my meal and left.
So it's hit and miss. During the day when it's slow, it was a good all-around experience. During a busy dinner shift, it was pretty dismal.
It seems the staff doesn't know how to handle the volume during rushes.
But, my first experience was good. So I'll give it another...
