I came in with my 14-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter, paid for two day passes and one adventure center pass. We’re experienced climbers and brought our own gear, as we used to be members here. After checking in and mentioning that we’d be using the entire gym, we spent a little bit of time in adventure center then we headed to the belay area.
As I was about to start belaying with my son, Sarah Acosta, an employee, rushed over aggressively and said, “It looks like you’re getting ready to belay. You’re not belay certified.” Her approach was incredibly rude, and I was immediately upset, especially because she spoke to me like that in front of my children. There were countless other ways she could’ve addressed me respectfully.
I explained that I had already taken the belay class and had always belayed on previous visits. She then questioned how much I paid and insisted that my 6-year-old had to stay in the adventure center. I told her I wasn’t leaving my daughter unsupervised while I belayed with my son, but she continued being confrontational and demanded that I re-test for certification and that I wasn’t aware this had to be renewed annually.
At this point, I was frustrated and asked for a refund since we’d only been there for less than 30 minutes. Sarah’s response was incredibly condescending: “Oh, because you don’t want to test.” The entire time, she was rude, dismissive, and her attitude was unacceptable—especially in front of my kids. She made us feel uncomfortable and we did not want to stay anymore.
To be honest, as the only Asian person in the gym at that time, I strongly feel her behavior would’ve been different if I wasn’t. She made assumptions and didn’t respectfully ask me the right questions. I’ve never been spoken to so disrespectfully in my life, and I’ve never had to leave a negative review before, but this was too upsetting not to address.
As we were leaving, I reminded Sarah that it’s never appropriate to suggest a parent leave their child unattended. She pretended not to remember saying it and backtracked, claiming all children need supervision. This experience was beyond disappointing, and Sarah needs to be held accountable for her behavior. Her approach was unprofessional and ruined what should have been a fun experience...
Read moreWe had a party for 2 of my children here. This was their first time climbing at this facility. There were 7 kid climbers in total and about 20 adults; some adults just watched and some helped their kids hook up to their harnesses. Our party time was 12:30-2:30. We had a sandwich platter, fruit salad, chips and drinks. We also had a chocolate chip cookie pizza for dessert.
Pros: -online reservation was simple and easy -facility was clean -party room had a fridge for food and drinks -you can bring your own food for the event
Cons: -the website claims "semi-private climbing experience", which is not true. I thought the "kid-area" would be closed off for the climbing time of our party but that was not the case. -30 minutes is not enough time to pass out food, eat, open presents and have dessert. -staff member that worked at front desk (never got his name and he wasn't wearing a name tag) came into the party room after I had just passed out dessert to tell me "the party needs to end and you need to start cleaning up right now." I felt embarrassed that my guests heard this and immediately started helping me clean up. There was no friendly, "if you could begin cleaning up within the next 15 minutes, we would appreciate it"
I did email the event coordinator to inform her of what had happened. She did call me the next day to apologize and stated that there would be a conversation with the staff about what had happened.
Overall, the experience was good but it just ended in a negative way. There was not a party after ours, so there was no need for the urgency for us to leave. This is a nice facility, but some details need to be reconsidered when it comes to a...

From the moment we arrived, the team at Alpine Climbing Adventure made us feel welcome and ensured that we had a safe and enjoyable experience.
The facility itself is well-maintained and offers a variety of challenging climbing routes for all skill levels. My daughter and I are beginner climbers, so we appreciated the wide range of options available to us.
