When I was walking up to the front door of the restaurant, I had to walk around the trash. There was litter all in front of the entrance, the garbage can on the outside was completely full and overflowing. As I got good closer to the glass front door, there was a bunch of slobber marks on the door. It looked like a dog had licked the outside of the glass. The glass just looked horrible, very dirt, and unkept.
Upon entering the restaurant, it wasn't any better. The tables all had food particles on them. The floor hadn't been swept, the tables and chairs were all sticky from soda pop.
A few weeks back, I talked to one of the employees about how the only reason why I was still a customer of togos was because I'm the Riverbank location they did it differently. You order your sandwich first, they make the sandwich right in front of you. Customers have the benefit of watching the person making their sandwich, making sure they're wearing gloves, making sure they don't put hot peppers on your sandwich, or something else that you don't like. The last thing you do is then pay for the sandwich, then fill up your drinks, and you're done.
I asked for napkins because there weren't any included with my order. Staff gave me two napkins. When men have facial hair, or a beard, you need to give them at least 4-5 napkins, minimum! When I asked the second time, the staff member acted like I was inconveniencing them.
I can understand SOME uncleanliness, but not when I'm the only customer! There were several employees standing behind the counter, not doing anything. i brought it to their attention that somebody had spilled some liquid on the floor, I asked for napkins, they asked why? I cleaned up a safety mess, so a customer wouldn't slip, get injured, and them sue the restaurant.
Bringing up a customer distracts the customer from being able to watch the sandwich being made, it also gives the impression that it's done intentionally. Because you want to hide the uncleanliness behind the counter or that you simply do not trust the customers, like, you're afraid of a grab the sandwiches and run situation. Yet the way the counters were originally designed, the registers were at the end of the counter closest to the entrance to the restaurant. This was a much better set up.Obviously, because customers could watch their sandwich being made. It can also increase sales because customers watching their sandwich being made can see how skimpy the amount of meat has become and if they want to, they have the option of paying to double the meat.
Fortunately, there are a couple of family owned sandwich shops in modesto, their restaurants are always clean, and the customer service is superb. It boils down to a lot of training issues and a lack of hiring workers who want to work and take pride in...

I posted my two pictures of what I got today...WAS SUPPOSED to be the BBQ PULLED PORK WITH CHEDDAR CHEESE and was an absolute disgusting SOGGY mess! It was supposed to be toasted was not, did not put my cheese on it, and forgot my peppers! I called back and the one thing I can't stand the most is an employee questioning and doubting my complaint like I'm lying!?? Then to top it off I'm now supposed to go back down their waste my time and gas to get a new one because supposedly they can't write me a credit for another day???? Terrible service! I'm not the one who messed up MY FOOD they did and debated and questioned me on it absolutely ridiculous!!! Just go take a look at my pics and tell me if you'd eat that!????
I was told "well I saw her put cheese" "I saw her put the bbq sauce on their and she might have put too much" "All the veggies should be...
Read moreFriday, 3/29/19, 1:55 p.m. Placed our order. My friend asked if she could have her roast beef heated longer so it would be cooked well done. I changed my order to roast beef too. Our server, Kaby was doing great. Another worker (who's tag on her hat said Stephanie), butts into our conversations asking about what we were ordering, then proceeds to go over to Kaby, and discipline her in front of us. WRONG MOVE Stephanie!! Kaby was doing just fine for us, as, we were changing our minds, and talking to Kaby, not you. It seems Stephanie needs more training in being a full in manager. Don't berate/discipline an employee, and especially a newer employee EVER in front of customers. My receipt says I was in there at 8:41:34 AM, which is off. I gave a $5.00 tip to Kaby, and I really hope she got it, because she...
