La Familia Street Tacos & More — Restaurant in Riverside

Okay, let me start off by saying that if I would have written this review while I was waiting for my food like I intended to, I would have given only one star 🌟 because after seeing the 4.7 rating, we expected a really good experience.. and that wasn't the case at all!! From the moment we walked in, we started to sweat 😓 it was 3:30pm, 95° outside and this place didn't have the A/C on so it was so humid in there, and to top it off, the whole place didn't smell like food, it smelled really strong like spray paint probably from the big black spray painted logos on the walls 🫤 we were planning on eating there, but it just got too unbearable 🥵😵‍💫🫢 we had to take it to go! There were no other customers in the place and the one employee working was just standing there, why were the tables so dirty? She could have cleaned them off instead of just standing around 🙄 and the customers TV was stuck on the ROKU home screen, who wants to watch that? 🤷🏻‍♂️ they were out of all the bottle drink options, and the menu board looked like it was ready to fall down 😬

All that aside, I'm glad that i waited to write this review because when we got back to our air conditioned home, the food was still very hot and it was delicious 😋 👌🏼 the green salsa was very mild and I wish it had more heat, but the red made up for it. So all in all, I bumped up my review to a fair three stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 because the food was good. 👍🏼 I guess I'll have to try another one of their locations...

Some sketch behavior last time I was there from one of the employees (hadn't seen him there before) - paying people off the street, dropping bags behind that side door, calling people for cash - I dunno! I just hope nothing shady - don't want to be around it if so! He was friendly though and the food is still yummy!!!

Update 08/26/24: Been here a few more times... I keep intending to try other items, but that taco plate calls my name EVERY time! ;P And it never disappoints!! Different staff member this time but just as friendly. Keep supporting small businesses like this that offer a quality product, good value, and great attitudes/customer service! Let me start this out by saying, I am picky about my meat!! I usually will try a carne asada taco & maybe beans/rice at a place, as a test item to see if I'll order more and go back.

Tacos here are meaty and have great flavors!! Not chopped up gristle & fat either but pure chunks of meat and each taco is generously stuffed! Staff are extremely nice and hard working! I'll be craving these and now I have to go back to try the chile relleno burrito!!

I got a generous taco plate w/ 3 (fat) tacos (beans & rice), Mexi coke bottle, and left a tip, all for around $20.

The carne asada burrito was not good. The asada itself wasn’t TERRIBLE but it was oddly sweet and on the bland side which I wasn’t a fan of. There wasn’t much flavor to it but the worst part was that the burrito consisted of asada, lots of beans and cheese with a sprinkle of rice. There was literally no cilantro and no onion. How do you have street tacos in the name but the burrito doesn’t have cilantro or onion? We paid 30$ for 2 very mid bean and cheese burritos with some meat in them 😐 I have no idea why this place has such a good rating when both times I’ve gone, there were absolutely no customers.. that tells you everything you need to know about a good taco spot. The first time I went to try it, they were out of asada so I chose to eat elsewhere but there was not one customer inside.
