California Fish Grill — Restaurant in Riverside

So this is my third time coming here and I always get the shrimp tacos. But just like someone else mentioned in their review the food quality was not good at all. I ordered asparagus for $1.49 extra I think or more on my Combo to get asparagus that were not cooked. The person in the the kitchen told the person in the front well that’s how they are made here then they need to order it well done How would I know if this is the first time I ordered this item. Maybe the cashier should’ve mentioned that to me before I place my order. Hard not cook at all asparagus I could’ve stayed home for that. And also the rice was hard and cold, come on rice. I’m not saying the food is not good I’m just saying they’re not consistent and that’s maybe something that the owner should keep in consideration. The girl that was in the front part giving us our food did tell me not to worry just keep the cold asparagus on my plate and that they were going to give me another order she took care of it pretty fast but I was almost done with my food by the time the Asparagus came and I was able to eat them it’s pretty sad because I threw out the other asparagus they were not cooked and they went in the trash. I didn’t come to the market to eat, I come out to eat and try to enjoy my only day off with my kids. No I didn’t enjoy cold rice with asparagus not cooked as well sucks. 😢:( focus on the food that’s why we go out to eat not to have to do...

Gotta admit, pretty good food here. I came in after my workout across the parking lot gym, and I was starving! I thoroughly enjoyed their fish, I had the Rockfish & Shrimp Skewer Combo special, I ordered it with sweet potato fries and the grilled zucchini...it was delicious, the fish was not over cooked, it was moist, and it fell apart easily. The shrimp wasn't overcooked either, it had a nice sweet and tangy flavor to it. The fries and zucchini were definitely freshly made. The sauce table they is amazeballs! Lots to choose from, their tartar sauce is great, and their ketchup is good as well, went great with my sweet potato fries! They even have alcohol available here.

Atmosphere was good, it was busy when I was there, as expected during lunch. Nouse level was about average. No real long line, I was eating my food in no time. The customer service was good too, they kept cleaning up the tables almost immediately after people would leave. Nicely decorated inside, large barstool type chairs and regular booths available.

I will definitely come back to try out more of their food items. I recommend this place to anyone, are you wondering if it's good or...

CFG used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but over the years, their prices have gone up while the portions have gotten smaller and their quality of food lower.

We gave them a try again recently, but my wife found an allergen (avocados) in her Mediterranean shrimp wrap while we were eating. This was not listed in the ingredients and we confirmed with staff it was not supposed to be in there.

The young girl at front (who claimed to be in charge) processed a refund, but when I mentioned that my wife was having an allergic reaction to it, I wish the staff showed a little more empathy.

Instead, she just blamed back of house saying they must’ve confused the order with another customer who ordered the same item and added avocado. Mistakes happen… there is no need to make up a hypothetical situation nor blame your cooks. 😔

Sorry CFG, we will not be returning after how this was handled, but please stress the importance of taking allergies seriously...
