Old Hickory Bar-B-Q Carryout — Restaurant in Riverside

Service is horrible! Went there for the first time last night and left without eating. We ordered our meals and had a seat. They brought us our drinks and a couple of our side dishes. My husband ate his coleslaw, I had my potato salad and my son ate it applesauce.

We waited....and waited for our meal. Waitress came to our table with food and placed it in front of us without even asking if this is what we ordered....however it wasn't our order. I told her it wasn't our order and she then picked up all the food and gave it to the people at the other table. She quickly told them that we didn't touch the food and gave it to them. After a while we noticed that the people who ordered after us got their food. Then again.....the people who ordered after them got their food.

So I went up to the waitress who was clearing off the table to check on our order. Her reply was "the broasted chicken takes a little while". And she didn't even check to see what was taking our order so long.

Our waitress gave our order to another table! She did apologize and said it would be a little while for them to get our order. We asked for our money back and they did give us a full refund.

One down side is that I like to get all my food at one time! Don't just bring me my potato salad.....bring me my entire meal. I like to eat my coleslaw with my BBQ.....not just before my meal.

I will say that the potato salad was really good. But we did leave hungry. Went to Arby's afterwards and got our meal in no time with no problems.

So I have always loved this place! The food is always awesome! I have not been here in years because I moved across town and just happened to be down that way so I said why not. But I had an experience yesterday which was something I feel I should speak about because it was to me, unprofessional. So I placed an order for carry out and picked it up through the drive thru. I always leave a tip or throw whoever a couple bucks at any drive thru if I do carry out. I had worked in the food industry for 10 plus years to my prior profession, I find it rude for any food service worker to ask for a tip(mind you i was a server/carry out for 10 plus years) well picking up my food from the drive thru and was about to say add a tip on my card and before I could say anything at all, the girl says “how much do you want to leave for a tip!?!?” She kinda shocked me when she asked because it’s rude to ask me especially if I’m not dining in. It was almost like she expected it. I still left the tip but only tipped $5 if she wouldn’t have asked it would’ve been my usual $10-$15. I’m not stating this to down grade the workers nor the restaurant, the food is amazing, but there is a thing called professionalism. Some of these young workers need...

Old Hickory has been my favorite restaurant when it comes to smiling faces and a dedicated hardworking "BBQ Pit Team" for 30 years. Throughout my childhood and into my adult life, my parents and I made Old Hickory Carry Out our go to for weekend gatherings, milestone celebrations, and much more. Hands down my favorite bbq restaurant. I highly suggest their juicy, half all dark, bbq chicken dinner and a jar of their original bbq sauce to make your meal complete. As some may say..."It's awesome sauce!" 😊 I would like to personally and publically thank the entire Old Hickory Carryout Staff for giving me over 30 years of great memories. I have always enjoyed a variety of items on your menu and especially your famous bbq meals. Everything made swiftly and fresh to order and served by your dedicated crew! Sadly both my parents passed away in the past year. Everytime I choose to call in an order to dine at home, I have only fond memories of my parents and I sitting at the dinner table and spending quality time together and enjoying quality time while eating quality meals. It is definitely clear that your Team cares about the food they serve and that every customer is 100% completely satisfied. Thank you again and best regards to...
