It's saddening to think of Red Robins as my least favorite burger restaurant because the food is pretty good and I've shared so many wonderful memories with my family; however, due to my last experience the customer service and staff, however, are completely different. I've had several not-so-great experiences at the Tyler Galleria location in Riverside, CA, but my last and final experience was the worst!!!
Aside from our server, Amber Trujillo, getting an attitude when I informed her that we didn't specify our sides (which was because she didn't ask), she responded with "it comes with fries." We never order the plain fries and until this experience, we've never had an issue substituting them and paying the difference. Our server's attitude began with substitution of our sides, but it didn't end there. My husband substituted the American cheese that originally came with his burger for cheddar and when our server was confronted with the fact that the kitchen used American, she was peeved about having to send it back to the kitchen.
I was tempted to speak with the manager, pay our check, and leave, but my husband reminded me that perhaps she was having a hard time because it appeared as though the restaurant was understaffed, so I have her grace; I even felt terrible about not being empathetic. Unfortunately, my grace and compassion quickly ran out because she not only got upset when we asked if our salted caramel milkshake could be swapped out for an Oreo cookie milkshake as the salted caramel milkshake had a very weird aftertaste, but she used the same milkshake and just added Oreo cookies to it!!! My entire family tasted it because I wanted to be certain about the "swap" and not be swayed by my bias.
After an hour of tension and ordering on eggshells, we finally asked for to-go boxes for our leftover burgers and a set of sides to go. I respectfully asked if there was a change in policy as we have ALWAYS taken a salad or fries to go. She informed me that the policy had always been in place and snarkily said "I'll go get the manager," which I was fine with given our absurd experience. Prior to retrieving the manager, she proceeded to wipe down the table in front of me and stared me down; I thought I might have been inviting this, so I turned away to end the awkward staredown, however, when I returned my gaze, she was still staring at me. My daughter stared at the whole situation and I was so mortified that she had to witness that. I tried to deescalate the intense situation by asking the server if everything was okay, and she proceeded to tell me that I was rude!!! She then walked past us and got the manager (which was a temporary manager), who did his best to try to resolve the issue by bringing us our to-go sides and taking a meal off the bill.
I am usually not a stickler for discounts or freebies, but upon further reflection, I thought that the meal should've been free. In the moment, I just wanted to pay and get out of there. As I said earlier, we will never be back to the Riverside location and I urge others to beware. If you must go to this location, be sure to get a different server. My apologies for droning on, but I hope this helps someone avoid the headache we...
Read moreYIKES! I feel like I stepped into a time warp of this restaurant of the same name but not the same quality. I had been going to red Robin for years and the last three times the service was, Meh. That was back during the holidays. I have not been back until today and boy was I taken a back by the low quality of the food, it’s presentation, and the waiter Carlos was not very well trained. He was friendly but forgot a few things. For example when you order Fish and chips it should automatically come with Tartar sauce. When I asked for it he did admit he forgot. I had to go look for him or I had another waiter track him down so I can get something else too. I think he could’ve checked on us more. I also did not get offered a second helping of these “supposed” “bottomless fries”. At that point I didn’t feel like trying to track him down and was just satisfied knowing that this is my last time going to this restaurant. The fish and chips plate that I ordered was simply blaaaaahh. They put lettuce underneath my fries (which was weird) and there was, I’m not kidding, probably eight of them. It should be called Fish and a bit of Chips. I didn’t feel like looking for the manager like last time to make my complaints, I didn’t even have to say anything to my wife. She can tell by my face when I was paying. I guess I’ve just had enough and given up on this one-time cool pub/diner. Goodbye Red Robin it has been a nice run but lately, not...
Read moreFirst let me say, I have not visited a Red Robbin in person since before the pandemic, I know that's been years by now lol. Mostly ordered through grub hub. We were seated promptly with courtesy, the place seemed to be slow for a weekend. Ordered a few beers before we placed our order. Maybe a lil bit of ageism lol because the waitress asked the people behind me and on the other side about downloading an app to get a free appetizer. That was not offered to us, my family member I was with is in his young looking 60s and I'm a young looking 40s 😂. Not sure why she did not offer us that option, maybe thinking old people don't do the app thing. I don't think we are old at all just felt that way due to her not presenting the option to us, regardless of whether we would have taken it or not. I am a very avid social media person and def would have been on it, especially for a free appetizer 🤣. Anyways I ordered a bacon cheeseburger adding onion straws 😉 hint hint and my family ordered 14in pizza. Food was good but service was sub par from the waitress. Consistency is key and knowing my family member he probably broke her off with a fat tip either way (it was his treat). Sadly, I will opt out of this location due to the seemingly discrimination towards us. Sorry 'Red Robbing' me but I won't be spending my money at...
