Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood & Bar — Restaurant in Roanoke

I will never return to this restaurant. I was so excited to have a date night since I cook at home every night of the week. Per usual, we could not decide where we wanted to go, but I suggested seafood or pasta. We decided to try Crab du Jour because we had not eaten there before and a quick internet search showed good reviews. First, a very sloppily dressed lady in a coat and crocs seated us at a table right behind the bar access. We didn’t have a good atmosphere because all we could see was the bartender and the backside of the bar shelving on one side and just a window with closed blinds on the other. The menu is very confusing. There are no broiled fish platters. You can either get a fried shrimp sandwich, or choose steamed shellfish options to create your own basket for a minimum of $30 per order. I decided to try the crab cakes and my date ordered a fried shrimp sandwich. The food took a very long time to be delivered. When it arrived, the shrimp was as chewy as calamari and there was a hair in our sauce dip. The sloppy hostess continued to come around to the back of the bar and talk loud and joke around with the bartender and use explicit language. This was very unprofessional. I went to the bathroom and it was a mess with no soap available. Later that night I woke up with terrible heartburn and my date threw up for hours. We did not have any alcoholic beverages or eat at any other places that day. I can only say 2 positive things - our server was friendly and the crab cakes were alright. I’ve never been compelled to leave a review of a poor restaurant experience, but the possible food poisoning made me feel it was necessary so other date nights...

The manager shouldn't be a manager at all! We were there for our anniversary and had ordered food, drinks, and ate when we decided to have another drink..we get our drinks and my mixed drink( frozen Margarita) tasted like straight water...couldn't even taste the strawberry in it let alone any alcohol...waitress was really sweet and asked how they were, and we proceeded ro tell her mine was like water and said she'd take it back and take it off the tab, came back and said she had taken off the tab, and asked if I'd like another drink, so I ordered something else...she comes back about two minutes later and proceeded to tell me that the bartender refused to make me another drink to just send back..I was in shock that I was even being told that! Who wants to pay 10-15 dollars for a frozen margarita that taste like straight water! I asked to speak to the manager and she proceeded to tell me the bartender was the manager so my husband said I'll go talk to her...she continued to refuse to make another drink and proceeded to say she would call the cops and we said well, call the cops then? Like we had done something wrong? Then she tells us to leave the restaurant..needless to say we feel really bad for the waitress as all we has was a card to pay, and she didn't even get a tip from us..she kept apologizing to use and even apologized as we were walking out the door...someone like this should not be able to run an establishment if she doesn't know how to treat customers..we've always enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but sadly having someone like that run it has ruined it for us.
