My husband has been a vegan going on 3 years now (for medical reasons). We were in the area & I saw that Chomp has a vegan menu so we decided to stop for lunch. We are not from the area & it looked like it would be some good food. Which it was just mediocre if you ask me. I ordered the bacon grill cheese. Which in my mind means the cheese will be melted, however, it was not. My husband ordered the sweet potato burger with sweet potato fries. His fries came out 10 mins before either of our sandwiches. 1 star lost there. The price of the food is definitely not worth what you get. Another star lost there. Then the topping on the cake. An older gentleman who brought out our fries started walking in the dining area asking the guests if their food was good. A couple who haf just came in & sat down next to us asked a "vegan" related question. As they had just informed us they went vegan less than a year ago due to medical reasons. They asked the man (employee/owner??) What seitan is? As it is on their vegan menu for a few different items. This man replied to them that it is just a bunch of crushed up vegetables. 😯😯 Seitan is NOT just a bunch of crushed up vegetables to make a patty. It's a meat alternative made from the protein found in wheat flour. So a wheat by product. NOT A BUNCH OF CRUSHED UP VEGETABLES 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ EDUCATION IS KEY!! If you don't know. State you're unsure & then go look it up! Don't make stuff up! VERY DISAPPOINTING!! 2 stars lost right there on that topic with me. Now I do have to say when I brought the other half of my sandwich home & reheated it in my air fryer all of the cheese melted & the sandwich was very yummy! But again not for the price they charge when it was not that great in...
Read moreMy wife and I were craving sandwiches other than the typical fast food chain foot longs so we decided to go to Chomp. When you first walk in it is seat yourself in a very small building after you place your order at the cash register, they then hand you a number and will bring your food to you. Seems okay, but once we ordered and sat down it took 55 minutes before we received our food. Now I understand I need some patience because they were very busy but once I saw people that walked in ten minutes ago already receiving their food then I got irritated. Right around that time the just came to another couple and told them they screwed their order up (they were waiting before we got there) and offered them a soda while they wait but instead they walked out. So finally they start bringing us our food, the truffle fries are good but the onion petals I think are supposed to have some sort of sauce they did not give us that. By now our 7 week old baby has had enough so I told them please make this to go and they did while I don't know exactly what they said I did hear them saying something about the baby crying, not sure if they were just explaining the situation to each other or being rude. Anyway, I got the Cajun chicken sandwich it was really good and my wife got BBQ chicken wrap which she also enjoyed. So they saved face a bit with how good the food, smoothies and juice were which means they were able to scrape in barely at 3 stars. I'll be hard pressed to return but maybe one day if I have 2 hours to...
Read moreMy husband and I were hiking nearby and decided to stop here for a late lunch. Even at 2pm on a Saturday the place was busy. Since there was no room to dine in we did carry out. I was surprised for being a healthy place they didn't have many gluten free options. While they did have a gluten free bun option, I needed to know what ingredients were in it and because I have other dietary needs. The girl who was taking the orders went back to find out the brand of the gluten free buns because I can tell usually with the popular brands which oned I can have. She came back to tell me that they use Gordon's, which I never heard of. I asked her for an ingredient list because I can't have soybean, vegetable, canola, palm, or sunflower oil. She said she didn't know but the gluten free bun would probably have those. I would of like her to check, but I understand that she would have to go back again to check. While the food was good, we thought the prices were too high for what you got. I got one of the sandwiches without a bun, he got a wrap, and a smoothie. All of that was more than $40 for lunch! The service was slow. People who ordered after us even got their food faster. It is a nice stop in downtown Rochester, but too expensive for what you get. Also, not many gluten...
