I recently had the pleasure of visiting this classic Mexican bakery and was delighted to discover a diverse selection of baked goods, even during the afternoon hours.
Here's how you can navigate your shopping experience at this bakery:
Upon arrival, grab a green tray and tongs from the main counter. Browse the displayed baked goods along the window, with most items priced around $3. Prices on top of case and by the green trays. Proceed to the checkout area where you can also order drinks, slices of cake rolls, or their signature cakes. Any questions? Ask the staff- remarkably helpful!
In my opinion, this bakery is more than worth the visit!
Went with my niece- she loved the colorful cookies and wouldn’t stop dancing to the enjoyable music.
More review: While there are other places in town that offer Mexican baked goods, this establishment stands out with selection and just baked goods. One of the highlights is the open bakery workstation visible upon entry, where you can witness the dedicated staff hard at work crafting delicious treats throughout the day.
Starting this Saturday, they will be introducing coffee alongside a variety of other beverages. During my visit, I inquired about gluten-free and other alternative options. I was pleased to learn that they offer naturally gluten-free choices such as Flan and oat milk for coffee. However, it's important to note that their selection of vegan or alternative options is currently limited. Nevertheless, they are exploring the possibility of expanding these offerings in the future, although it may not be immediate.
Seating indoors is limited, with only three counter seats available at present. However, there are indications that they may utilize the outdoor patio once spring arrives, which would provide additional seating options.
The bakery is relatively handicap accessible, with standard strip mall doors (non-electronic) but no steps or other issues with accessing the bakery. It appears the building owners need to make the sidewalk entrance blocked off to traffic- currently looks like a regular parking spot. No reserved park spots right next to the bakery or “pickup” limited time spots but does have a decent number of spots available. Nothing the bakery can do about it. Also left up all the old signage from the last business, so don’t be confused about the “fiddlehead” signs.
Overall, this bakery exudes charm and shows promise. Whether you're seeking Mexican sweet baked goods or simply looking for a delightful culinary experience, this establishment is definitely worth a visit for the native Rochester or visitors to Saint Mary’s...
Read moreDon Pancho’s Bakery is honestly one of my favorite spots near St. Mary’s. It’s really easy to find- right around the corner from Fresh Thyme, and there’s parking right up by the door.
The second you walk in, it smells amazing and everyone is super welcoming. You just grab a basket and some tongs from the front counter and try not to get carried away, because everything looks so good.
The first time I went, I got a tres leches cake from the cold case and an Americano—both were incredible. The cake was rich and moist, not too sweet, and the coffee was smooth and strong. The only thing I struggled with is that nothing’s labeled, so you kinda have to guess what things are if you're not familiar with the food, but honestly that’s part of the fun.
Next time we came through town, we couldn’t decide what to pick so we didn’t even try—we just filled a basket with a mix of everything and made a little tasting buffet at home. Every pastry tasted fresh and homemade, you can really tell they care about what they’re making. My son even said, “these don’t taste like regular desserts,” and he’s right—they’re not overly sugary, just really well balanced, authentic, and delicious.
We’re already planning another trip to try more. Everything about this place just feels warm and genuine and I'm obsessed with the budín de pan and the flan! Solid...
Read moreWhat an amazing Mexican bakery. There are so many freshly paint items in this bakery. I remember visiting this place when it was a coffee bar. It’s super cool. They have plenty of space but this one is mostly takeout. They have apathetic Mexican deserts like trans Asian and different type of Jesus. They have Mexican bread. Nothing is price here. Everything is very affordable. You see plenty of people walking by buying bags and bags of bread Condiments.
My honest feedback to staff the staff : If you guys can put the name tag on what the item is with the price that will help people to decide what to get. If your staff try to speak in English, it would help a lot or at least having somebody who can understand and communicate better. The coffee bar needs somebody who can be fast. We waited for a 7 to 8 minutes without any other Customer in the line just good morning sweet home have our cappuccino.
But overall, this is a great place very affordable and amazing taste . Don’t worry about the parking there’s plenty of parking in...
