Hunan Bistro — Restaurant in Rochester

Best Chinese in town by far. I've been here a couple of times and the owners and waitstaff are welcoming and always happy to accommodate my gluten allergy. I've been able to try things that I haven't tried or had in years which is an amazing feeling when you're limited on choices. Chinese food can be difficult to enjoy with gluten-sensitivity, but Hunan Bistro guides me through the menu and even tailors the dishes to meet my dietary set back.

The food is amazing. They have choices that I've not seen on any other menu in town, and the presentation, portions and flavor are top-notch. This will be a mainstay for our family for sure.

Some dishes I've tried with gluten-free accommodations so far: -Couples Sliced Beef in Chili Sauce- really unique and delicious side dish -Red Braised Japanese Tofu (no red sauce, savory and umami light broth sauce instead) one of my favorites -Hot and Sour Shredded Potato- fresh and delightful -Spicy Dry-Pot Frog Legs- flavor bomb -10 Flavor Spare Ribs- no crunchy outside and no soy sauce. a little sweet, yet savory and a hint of vinegary...

I very seldom come across a hidden gem as pleasurable, beautifully designed, and more importantly, flavorful as this humble eatery tucked away in the nearby plaza.

After searching far and wide around MedCity for the solution to the “spice-itch”, my partner and I had thought we were close to giving up…until we stumbled upon our best find.

Hunan Bistro is not just a Chinese afternoon bite, but is rather a truly immersive and authentic experience into the traditional Chinese and Sichuan palate. The numbing Sichuan peppercorn taste was at the front of every bite, along with many notes of authentic spices and flavors; and a wonderfully crafted presentation of dishes. These dishes were graciously portioned, well priced, and tasted absolutely phenomenal. It is a wonderful pleasure to have Hunan Bistro nearby. The service was also attentive and friendly. Will absolutely be back to eat our way through the entire menu! Hoping nothing but the best for this soon to be Rochester Asian Staple!!!

I had the privilege of being the very first customer to dine in at Hunan Bistro on their grand opening day, and what an unforgettable experience it was! I ordered the pepper steak lunch special, which came with two pieces of chicken, a crab rangoon, and a soup of my choice—all for an unbelievable price of just $12. I also treated myself to an egg roll as an extra appetizer, and it turned out to be the perfect addition.

Not only was the food bursting with flavor, but the interior decoration was absolutely stunning—it created a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. The menu is thoughtfully designed, with plenty of pictures showcasing the variety of delicious dishes available, making it easy to explore new options.

It's clear that Hunan Bistro takes pride in their food, presentation, and ambiance. For anyone in search of a delightful dining experience at a great value, this is the spot to try. I can't wait to return and discover more of their menu. Highly...
