I had come into the store to browse the video games, and upon entering the store there was a very irate customer berating the employee over the store not wanting to buy his defective items. The customer eventually stormed out yelling, and continued to make a scene up until slamming the door. I continued to browse the video games, and found myself picking up a handful of titles I had never gotten the chance to play before. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the games had actually been reasonably priced, and I already knew just based off this that I would be back. However, much to my surprise, the employee that had been receiving the earful from the customer came over, and actually apologized on behalf of the situation that had just occurred. I was flabbergasted, and it quite literally shocked me to be honest because he genuinely seemed to care about me, and that I had to witness that. I feel terrible that I never learned his name, but just him even taking the time to come over, and say that I thought went above and beyond all my expectations I had coming in for my first visit to the store. I thanked him, and expressed my apologies right back to him in regards to that customer completely being out of line to treat someone that way. We continued to talk for a bit after this, and wow just once again I'm so sorry I don't have his name, because he was just so easy to talk to, and little did he know that he made my day when he commented on my Funhaus beanie. I had been wearing that beanie for five years in the colder weather seasons, and he was the first person to ever know who Funhaus was. Overall, I thought the store was beautiful. You could tell they put a lot of thought, and time into designing the layout, and everything about the store just made it more unique, and fun to browse. In addition to this, I also thought it was neat to see an area at the front for children to be able to play with toys. Originally going into the store I didn't know what exactly to expect. However, after seeing all the different selections of available titles to purchase, along with the reasonable pricing, I must say that I was ultimately impressed. My return to NerdinOut is ineluctable after my experience with that employee for how much they made me feel important, valued, and that I mattered...
Read moreMasks are required to enter but one of the two staff working had their’s hanging from one ear not covering their mouth or nose. The final straw was when they started to cough without covering their mouth. I was going to make a purchase, but wanted to get out of there as soon as possible when I saw this.
In response to Owner comments:
I was merely providing my own personal experience at your business. I didn’t walk into your store planning to write a negative review. In fact, I decided to visit in order to support a local small business because of how hard hit many have been due to Covid-19.
I’m a little put off at how defensive you are being given the sensitivity and seriousness of the pandemic. If any person is coughing without a mask on right now, for any reason, it’s uncomfortable. (What if the employee who is coughing is asymptotic?) According to your speculation of said employee coughing was from eating/drinking, my question is why are employees eating and drinking at the check out counter, where there is high traffic?
If you feel I am being unfair, I’d gladly come back to shop at your store and write another review about that experience, once I know that your business follows health and safety guidelines that you claim to. I think it is an overreaction to be upset and accusatory when someone tells others what they saw and how it affected their personal experience at your...
Read moreI called the store as I have some graphic novels, "trades" as they call them, to see if they were interested in buying them from me. On the phone I was told to bring them in and they would have a look.
I drove from Owatonna because I had some things to do in Rochester, When i get there they said they would have to check and see if they were accepting in these types of comics. Was told to walk around the store as they started to sort. After a few moments a shelf broke. The guy came up to me and explained a shelf broke, it needed fixing, to leave my name and number, go about my day and they would call.
After 4 hours, no call, I stop in only to be told they were busy and didn't get to them. Was not happy by that news, but figured okay it must mean they're interested and willing to accept them at least. Asked if they can get to them Sunday (May 4), and was told they could do that.
Now today, didn't get a call, again, drove all the way to Rochester from Owatonna, and was told they couldn't accept them, and was given some excuse about how they're accepting because their monthly budget was used up.
Can't help but feel mislead and waste my time...
