Kabin Kruser’s website indicated Happy Hour was 2-5 so I made our reservation for 4:30, figuring that gave us time to order. When I asked for a happy hour menu I was told that happy hour ended at 4:00. I told our server that is why we made reservations at 4:30 because it stated 2-5:00 happy hours on the website. He said he was sorry and he’d let his manager know that there was an error on the website but that happy hour had ended at 4:00. Okay, moving on… Our chowder was delicious, the white fish was okay and the mussels were stringy and not at all what mussels should be like. I had ordered the steamer pot of mussels but our waiter returned and said they only had 14 left, (there was supposed to be 24 as an entre) but they would give them to me at the appetizer price and not charge more. (There were supposed to be 12 as an appetizer.) I said okay but was obviously given the dregs of what was left. My husband ordered Sprite and I ordered one glass of house chard. Our bill was $72. They prorated the price of the mussels, charging me for the extra two mussels, instead of giving me the two for the same price as 12 , as we were told they would do. (Not worth asking for a bill adjustment since I had already chalked it up to a poor menu choice.) They charged $12 for the smaller pour of the house chard which I thought was expensive. Overall, it was disappointing and too much money for what the bill included. It was our 19th anniversary and was supposed to be a special evening. Our waiter was as nice as he could be but stood firm on the happy hour pricing. I am trying to send a photo of the website’s listed happy hours but for some reason it won’t let me copy it or post a...
Read moreWe hadn't been to Kabin Kruser's in quite a while so we stopped in to see what their happy hour offerings were.
We walked in and were surprised to see how crowded it was. I managed to get two seats in the bar area and we ordered off the happy hour menu.
We started with the escargot which was good although it could have used a little bit more of a garlic butter sauce because the bread they give you is wonderful for sopping up the butter.
Then we had my favorite from all the Kruse & Muer restaurants, the stuffed mushroom caps. However here at Kabin Krusers there just wasn't enough of the rich lobster sauce. Again there's that wonderful bread to use the slurp it up with.
The drinks were a bit limited as I ended up getting a whiskey drink and I haven't had whiskey in years. But it was good because it was like a punch & I ended up getting two of them.
It looks like this is the place to go if you're going to the Royal Park for a wedding or event, because it was jammed with people that were really dressed up for the evening.
We will be back to try other happy hour specials, like the calamari and the mussels that we saw at a neighboring table. They...
Read moreHad a reservation for two here and was seated almost immediately. The restaurant was cute and our server, Amir, was very kind and attentive.
Ordered the following: Half dozen oysters: 5/5 .. fresh, but very small Escargot: 5/5 Crab Cake: 3/5 .. wish it was cooked slightly longer for a nice crisp crust. Without, the texture was just like mush. Lobster Bisque: 3.5/5 .. honestly was only slightly warm. Not your traditional lobster bisque but my husband who’s never had lobster bisque before still enjoyed it though. Clam Chowder: 4/5 .. a bit thick but that’s probably because it came out only slightly warm. Duck Breast: 3/5 .. came out medium by default and was surprisingly tough in texture. I eat duck often so for the price, I was surprised how chewy it was. The hash was good but was overpowered by the abundance of cranberries. Lamb Chops: 5/5 .. very tender with a nice crust with flavorful herbs
Also realized that we didn’t get any bread until we saw the table next to us received some when they were seated. Spent over $200 here for everything and honestly, I wasn’t blown away. For the premium price, I’m not sure if...
