This was my first experience at a hibachi restaurant! There were nine people in our party and I'm glad we got to see six people on the other side of the square order before us! The Cook made the noodles first and served those and then he made the vegetables and served those and then he made the fried rice and served that and then he cooked all of the proteins and served those! By the time all of their food was on their plates most of it was cold!! So, when it was our turn to order I told our waitress that I did not want my food cooked on the grill hibachi style, and asked if I could have it cooked in the kitchen? She said yes! So the cook started to prepare our groups food! The same thing happened, noodles then veggies then rice then proteins! Not only was the food cold but the portioning was off, some people got more veggies than others, some people got more noodles than others, some people got more rice than others, The whole experience was terrible for my friends! And then my food came out of the kitchen and it was a huge beautiful plate of food! It was so sad that the Noodles and rice were very bland and boring! But the seafood and vegetables were delicious! Our dinners came with soup and salad and the salad was great with an excellent ginger dressing but the soup was the worst soup I have ever had! It was a miso soup with tofu and it was the only soup available! The other issues were - our dishes were not being cleared and when they were cleared the busboys would throw them in the bus pans and make a lot of noise! Whenever we ask for something from the waitress it took forever! Cocktails were terrible and $15 each! The worst thing about our entire evening was the fried cheesecake! When you order fried cheesecake they usually fry it right when you order it! This Cheesecake was fried probably a day or two in advance and served cold! The tempura batter was like leather and you had to cut it with a knife and fork and even that was difficult! Oh, I forgot to mention the sushi! We ordered the sushi combination platter where you got four different kinds of sushi and I'm not kidding, it was the worst sushi I have ever had in my life! I bought the platter of sushi for the table and when I shared it with my friends they took one piece and did not take anymore! The sushi at Sam's Club is phenomenal, I recommend you try that! All evening long I felt like our waitress just didn't care, and when we got our bill I understood why!! They put 20% tip on the bill! That is the problem with automatic gratuity, they don't care about the type of service they give you!! We normally tip higher if the service is good! Overall, I would not recommend...
Read moreI have been looking forward to trying out this place for quite some time.
I called at 5:45 to see if there was a wait and the receptionist told me "No"
I immediately drove out there from Clarkston. I Called again and talked to someone at 6:15 and he directed me on how to find their store front. It was raining, I had small children with me and had to pay to park. So at most it took me 5 mins to walk in.
I walk in 5 mins later and the server took 1 look at us and told us we couldn't be seated!
The reasoning we received was that they had a large party coming in FORTY FIVE MINUTES and wouldn't be seating anymore patrons. He also stated there weren't enough cooks to accommodate us.
The place was wide open! Only 2 tables seated at the time and 1 person waiting. So could the cook that would be servicing the gentleman waiting NOT cook for us as well????? I was confused so I asked for a manager, because this couldn't be true being that I'd spoken to TWO ppl within the last 30 mins. I was then told that there wasn't a manager on duty for the night. I asked to speak with whomever was 'in charge' for the night and was told no one was in charge!
I let the server know I'd just talked to someone whom told me there was no wait! And that id just called and was even directed on how to locate them. The server told me that it was HE that I'd spoken to 😳 So Why not tell me over the phone that you weren't seating anyone?
He refused to give me a managers name, refused to let me speak to anyone in charge.
All of this unfolded inside of a quiet restaurant as everyone stared at us. I've never been so humiliated and embarrassed in my life, especially in front of my children! I'll never step foot in this establishment again! I was so shocked and taken aback I was speechless.
My children and I exited the restaurant. As we were leaving another couple walked in.
My friend was nice enough to go back into this establishment and speak with the server again. She too was refused contact information for a manager UNTIL she mentioned speaking with the media and a lawyer, only then was she provided a FIRST NAME of a Manager.
The couple who'd just walked in were allowed to 'wait' for one of the many open tables that were available.
Then ALL OF A SUDDEN we're offered a table. All of a sudden there's another cook on duty that he was unaware of.
We politely declined and left! I'd never feel welcomed with my family in such a cold, callous, rude and unprofessional establishment as this! Shame on You Matt! Clearly "We" weren't wanted or...
Read moreCan't say this was a great meal. Walked here for dinner after some meetings and we were seated pretty quickly. Ideally you'll make reservations ahead of time as they need to organize their hibachi seating to fill up the spots before cooking. We had a short wait of about 10-15 min as we were the first ones at a new table.
My friend and I both ordered the steak and lobster, which is one of their higher priced hibachi options. I opted to pay the extra for fried rice while he went for the default steamed option. We ordered a couple of Sushi rolls for appetizers and waited for the dinner to start.
I'll start with the Sushi. Which wasn't really sushi. I'm not going to say it tasted bad but when the rolls came out (Tempura and Spicy Tuna), the rice was warm. WARM. It's because they used regular steamed rice instead of making sushi rice. There was no sweet vinegar or preparation at all. The shrimp was kind of sad as it was battered, fried, and then wrapped up with rice and seaweed with nothing else. The spicy tuna had a big dab of spicy sauce on top of the tuna and at least had some flavor. Solid miss here so don't recommend the Sushi at all.
Most people come for the Hibachi and it's kind of hard to mess that up. You'll get quite a bit of food with your meal; noodles (good), vegetables (ok), fried rice (poor), and in my case steak (good) and lobster (very good). Fried rice definitely wasn't worth the upcharge. A lot of hibachi places usually include a grilled shrimp appetizer so was slightly disappointed that they didn't here.
There's usually some standard things that go on with hibachi places. Patter from the chef, a little clanging and show with the utensils, a little fire, egg roll, food tossing, and sometimes an onion volcano. We got the last two at this place. I don't go for the show but felt a little bad for the family with two kids that were seated with us as I felt they missed out.
Anyway there was lots of food to eat and our waitress and staff were generally friendly and efficient. I don't recommend the sushi and the food was just...
