Update added at bottom…
Honestly, this is one of the worst experiences at a restaurant that we had in a long time
We initially sat at the bar and order drinks, and that was fairly timely. However, the one drink order was not made correctly. It lacked ice and a lime, which I had requested.
While waiting at the bar for our seat, once we were on the list which we were told it would be an hour. They called our name after 15 minutes, so that was a pleasant experience.
Most of the trouble happened after we were seated once we seated at a high top table. It took about 15 minutes before somebody came over to help we ordered drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer came out about 15 minutes later and then we ordered our entrées. the entrées probably took about 20 25 minutes And both tasted awful. I ordered the Hungarian goulash which the sauce tasted like it came out of a can the beef tips were well overdone and tough and the tortellini had cheese sauce tasted like it came out of a box of macaroni and cheese. The consistency was that bad. when the entrées were delivered, they took our silverware and before I could ask for a new set the server left. This person who dropped off the food was completely different than our wait server.
We waited a few minutes and no one stopped by, so I walked to the kitchen to get two sets of utensils and some napkins where I was greeted by another server and somebody else in the kitchen who told me I couldn’t go into the kitchen. I was right at the entrance, trying to get somebody’s attention but they were more concerned about shuffling me out of the doorway Than they were about listening to my request for new utensils. The person that I did talk to shoved some napkins in my hand, and then walked up to the hostess and came r by our table and dumped them off like they were in a hurry, and he was very unapologetic.
The food itself was not hot and again the pasta was poor quality, and we couldn’t even eat anything after a couple bites. It literally looked like somebody put down some seashell noodles out of a box splattered some canned spaghetti sauce with some again, overdone beef tips, and splat down a blotch of sour cream and on top of that was this looks like house bread look like a half of a pizza covered with cheese and that tasted terrible. The tortellini dish was equally as awful.
The overall experience included poor service, poor food quality, and I was going to ask her server when she returned to speak with a manager after several minutes no one checked on us, so I walked up to the hostess desk, and I asked to speak to a manager. The manager returned to our table after a couple minutes I explained the situation she apologized, and she comped our dinner. We promptly paid the check for our drinks and then left. While waiting for our check, the servers attitude and disposition became completely unfriendly. Service overall was horrible and there was no need for that change in attitude and as such, we left no tip... while waiting for our check, we asked the server for two glasses of water which she didn’t return so I’d ask the manager for water and she went and got us water
The service part of the experience was equally as bad and the server was hardly ever seen.
I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone
Update:
Wanted to add that we had to send back a drink as well due to not a full serving and melted ice. Another missed mark.
Interesting that proprietor never responded to this review. The lack of lack of humility and accountability along with service and quality speaks volumes. I’ve been definitely been...
Read moreI've been here a few times and it has never really met the mark. While they are not "fine dining", they pass themselves off as that mid range restaurant. The decor is typical of this type of building. Noisy, cement floors, cafeteria tables, nothing special.
While I will get to the food, my biggest problem with Rochester Mills is the service. Arrived for my step son's birthday dinner and there were only 8 of us which we made reservations in advance. We were sat right away, but we may as well waited at the entrance because our waiter took his time about making it over to us. He was nice and smiled but he was very slow.
We ordered appetizers which were delivered to the table by the "delivery crew" and not the waiter (a thing that I still can't grasp). However, there was still no silverware or appetizer plates. So we asked for plates and it only took about 5 minutes to get them.
We ordered our dinner and I'll only recap a few points. My wife and I ordered soup with our entree's. I ordered baby back ribs and she ordered filet. I received my entree with two of our other guests receiving their meals but the other five people at the table did not. My wife and I had not even received our soup yet.
After waiting a few minutes to see if the rest of our table was going to be served. I decided to cut into my ribs. I can say, they were NOT fall off the bone as advertised. They were pretty much the opposite. These ribs may have been cooked several days earlier and simply reheated. They were tough and chewy and I ended up eating two of the ribs and giving up. The fries were soggy and the coleslaw was warm.
My wife's twin filet's were not filets. They looked more like sirloins charged at filet pricing. To me, they looked overcooked. My step daughter asked for ranch sauce and my wife asked for A1 for her "Filet".
It took about 5 minutes. Just enough time for their food to cool off which is fine for people that don't like to eat their food hot/warm.
For my second time having dinner at this restaurant, I do not know if I will take a look at another pitch as they have two strikes already. There are enough great restaurants in Rochester to avoid a place that cannot give the service that matches their prices.
By the way...being busy on a Saturday night is not an excuse to give substandard service. If you cannot handle the number of tables, do not sit the...

Upon arrival, we were cordially greeted and requested seating in the delightful patio area. However, we were informed that the wait time would be approximately 15 minutes. They assured us that our number was added to their system and we would receive a confirmation text. Little did we know that this marked the beginning of a nightmare.
Our party of three patiently waited indoors for about 25 minutes. Growing restless, I approached the hostess to inquire about the status, only to be met with an irritable response. Regrettably, she offered no update or estimate regarding the availability of the patio. It was almost as if our presence was an inconvenience, as if she desired us to depart.
After an excruciating total of 35 minutes, we relinquished hope of enjoying the patio and requested an indoor seating arrangement instead. Surprisingly, despite the establishment being sparsely populated, the hostess restricted our options, relegating us to a secluded spot by a sizable brick wall. It was certainly not the picturesque window-side view we had envisioned on this beautiful spring evening.
We proceeded to order drinks and food, but both fell short of expectations, merely reaching a mediocre standard. To my dismay, halfway through the meal, our waitress approached our table and jokingly asked if I preferred water to be delivered directly into my mouth or by some other means. The humor was distasteful, to say the least, and delivered in an extremely unfunny manner.
Having traversed various parts of the world and been exposed to diverse cultures and people, I have generally encountered warmth and hospitality. Rarely have I felt unwelcome in a place, yet regrettably, this was one such instance.
I have resolved never to return to this establishment, and when my acquaintances express a desire to visit, I will diligently recount my disheartening encounter. Let us raise our glasses elsewhere, where a more gratifying experience...
