Stopped by Saturday evening for dinner. Called ahead and since they do take reservations at least 60 mins ahead, we made one for 7:15pm. Had to wait about 5 minutes but were eventually seated. Overall, we were very pleased with our appetizers and dinner at this busy restaurant in Rock Hill. Service was excellent as our server was very attentative and did a great job anticipating our requests before we asked – always kept our drinks filled. Started with AMY’S PIMENTO CHEESE appetizer (white cheddar. warm pretzels. Scallions) which was served hot and was super delicious. The warm pretzels were delicious with a nice crust and soft insides. Also tried the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES (chimichurri aioli. crispy bacon. arugula salad) which were also quite tasty. Also ordered the LEMON ROSEMARY HUMMUS (chickpeas. crostinis. olive oil) Ordered the HAZELNUT CRUSTED GOAT CHEESE SALAD (roasted beets. citrus. strawberries. Arugula) which was served fresh with a light and tasty dressing. Also ordered OLD TOWN USA BBQ SLOPPY JOE (amy’s pimento cheese. crispy onions) with balsamic brussel sprouts which was very filling and tasty; however, the brussel sprouts were tasty but slightly undercooked. Also ordered THE ORIGINAL FLIPSIDE BURGER (bacon and onion jam, amy’s pimento cheese, brioche, shredded lettuce) which was served hot and tasty. And finally, I ordered the GRILLED CHICKEN FETTUCCINE (roasted butternut squash. sage brown butter. spinach. toasted hazelnut crumble. balsamic drizzle) which was not served as hot as I would have liked but it was very tasty and delicious. If you are anywhere near Rock Hill, this is a worthy stop for lunch or dinner.

Quaint locally owned restaurant downtown Rock Hill. We were driving around trying to find a place to eat, luckily Google suggested this spot as we would have driven right past it as the time we were there the street was quiet and dark. We arrived and asked if they were still open (there were only about 2 or 3 tables occupied), the young man looked at his watch and said they closed in 30 minutes. I assured him we would eat fast. (The only reason I mention this is I've heard/seen on social media that people get offended by being told that; however, I completely understand people in the hospitality industry are stretched thin and exhausted). We ordered the Turkey BLT (it was enough for two meals as it is wonderfully stuffed with plenty of turkey, was not the precut deli meat type), cheeseburger (very tasty!), and the chicken salad (it too was a nice serving size of fresh house made chicken salad). Food came out promptly. I noticed I was given french fries instead of the side I requested, but due to time I didn't say anything. The waiter must have realized it on his own as he came out a few minutes later and apologized and provided the side originally ordered. He also stated there was no need to rush and to take our time. Nonetheless, we requested boxes to go and were out in less than 30 minutes. Service was wonderful, food was great, and atmosphere was quaint. We will definitely return should we find ourselves in the area again. Oh, and if you like bacon, there are plenty menu options that include bacon!

My first time visiting. Definitely won’t be my last! Amazing service and delicious food! My friend and I met here for lunch for chat and chow. The ambience is very relaxing. It was our first time dining here. The hostess and server were super friendly and helpful. I tried the sweet potato fries. They were perfect! Hot and fresh and just the right amount of salt. I got a side order because my friend said she wasn’t a fan of sweet potato fries. After trying them she really liked them saying they were the best she ever had. We tried the maple aeoli dip. I’m not sure I like but strangely enough I just could not stop dipping my fries into it. We both enjoyed the shrimp and grits as our main course. I can’t recall ever having shrimp and grits before in my life. It was very flavorful with the andouille sausage, tomatoes and peppers. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. When I first looked at it, I was skeptical because it was juicy. After stirring it up and tasting it, I was sold. I am not sure if that is what it’s suppose to taste like but I know I really liked it. After finishing our meal we transitioned outside to finish talking. The outside setup is just as relaxing. Every staff member we encountered was so nice. This is a perfect place for a first date, meetup with friends, or just for great food!

I had higher expectations for this place…

The online website sets expectations for a fabulous and vibrant atmosphere featuring high end dishes and cocktail options. We were pumped for brunch while visiting Rockhill South Carolina.

As we arrived to the restaurant we took note of a server walking out to the car

Hostess was very pleasant both on the phone and in person. We were seated quickly and my son was given crayons and something to color.

It took a while before we were greeted by our server. ( who, go figure, wreaked of cigarettes and was the server we saw exiting as we were entering) She seemed rushed and not very attentive.

Our waters/coffees were brought out in a timely fashion and we placed an order for the biscuit board. This too arrived in a timely fashion. It was Luke warm ( not hot) but it was fantastic in flavor and consistency.

At this time we started to place our entree order. My husband asked for about 60seconds more to look at the menu. Our server came back about 8 minutes later and our order was placed for main course and 2 mimosas. ( this was at 10:03am- they start serving mimosas at 10)

Our drinks didn’t hit the table for another 15+ minutes ( and our server seemed to have disappeared for a bit) After our drinks were gone and quite a bit of conversation had been had we began to look around and check the clock…. By 10:47 we still had not gotten our entrees, and our sever had not come back to check on us or ask if we needed refills. Most of the tables around us had arrived after us and had already finished their meals. Nearing 11 o’clock another server cleared our app dish and another delivered some of our food. My husbands dish of bacon and eggs with grits was cold. My pulled pork hash was warm but dry. The meat tasted a little older than “last nights leftovers” but the peppers and potatoes were great. My sons bacon plate was a few minutes behind the main entrees. The girl who brought the bacon was very pleasant and asked if everything was okay. At this point we asked for a manager to advise of the cold food and need of refills for water and a mimosa.

The manager was attentive and apologetic. Letting us know they had some fresh staff in the kitchen. He took the cold food away and within the minute brought a fresh hot plate out. He removed that order from our bill which was very kind but not necessary since it was replaced so quickly.

Over all the food was great once it arrived warm. Coffee was very strong/bitter in flavor (like Starbucks strong)

A few things we noticed while there. The severs were very comfortable and some what lackadaisical. We saw some eating in the coffee station and behind the bar. One passing out munchkins to everyone and they enjoyed them with their fingers as they continued on their way. The bathroom had no soap… which seemed to be the one staff was using as well 🤢.

Unfortunately this will be our only visit to the flipside in rock hill. They have sooo much potential but I think they need to revamp and retrain their staff with higher expectations and rules.

Both my husband and I spent 10-20 years in the service industry. From servers to bartenders to management/ trainers opening several restaurants over the years. We do have high expectations however we have a lot of grace. The service industry is a lost art and it shows here at...

I would have given a 5 star review, if it wasn't for the less than expected service we received. My husband & I decided to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary @ Flipside (since we have been there several times and enjoyed it so much). It was on a Friday night and were expecting a long wait, but were pleasantly surprised that it was only about 20 minutes. It went downhill after we were seated. Let me start by saying that the food was EXCELLENT as always, so no problem there. It was the service. We arrived around 7 and didn't get out of there until 9PM. It took a long time for the server to bring us some water first of all. When he returned, we gave him our cocktail orders and an appetizer order. The appetizer came and we finished it, but still did not have our cocktails. The server was seen several times standing around or talking to other tables, or not anywhere in sight at all for a while, but we could not get his attention. We finally got another server to check on this for us. We could see the bar and know for certain that she went right up to it and had our drinks made. After bringing our drinks, she immediately returned with our salads. Then another server brought us our meals. Still had not seen our server. A different server also came and filled our water glasses. Finally when he came by to see how things were, I asked if he had forgotten our cocktails and he said he was busy with a table in the back and also chose to blame it on the bartender, saying she was swamped and when she did get our drinks ready, she had another server bring them to us. I know for a fact that this was BS, since we were the ones that got another server to help us. I understand that things can get hectic on a Friday night, but please at least be honest and not pass the buck to someone else. We again had to wait a good while after we had finished our dinner for him to return to ask about our dessert order. We also had to wait a while for him to return to check us out, also noting, that we observed him standing around talking to another table of guests, much longer than he had attended to us, that's for sure. As a side note, we probably would have had more than 1 cocktail, but did not want to deal with the waiting any longer than we had already. (Great for the bottom line of a business, right?!) I certainly hope that the next time we eat there, we do NOT get the...

I have had pleasant experiences here in the past. Today - was not what I expected and I left feeling dissatisfied and disregarded by the staff. I sat at the bar so as not to take up a table for a larger party, even though the restaurant was fairly empty. I’m unsure if it was due to the timing and possibly shift changes but the staff were lively with one another, noisy in their side work which was all around me and fairly inattentive. I wasn’t even sure I was being spoken to as the server, Malaya, didn’t approach me but called out instead from half way down the bar. I had to get her attention as I was given only a brunch menu and to place an order and then watched her and the other staff including the managers, kitchen staff and other servers call out to one another, joke around, help themselves to drinks and eat waffles behind the bar while I sat without food for 10-15mins. I ordered soup. A bowl of soup. When it finally arrived it was lukewarm. I also ordered fries and Brussels sprouts with the intention of taking most food home for another meal. I had to ask to order, for a side-plate to eat from, for 2 to-go boxes (she still brought me only one so I asked again) and for the bill. Even when she handed me the bill, she didn’t make eye-contact but was looking around the room and wished me safe-travels and to enjoy the rest of my evening. It was 2:30pm and I live locally. She just wasn’t invested in my dining experience, at all. Another server called out as I was gathering my things to leave and I wasn’t sure she was speaking to me either. I won’t return to this location again. I still tipped generously but won’t put myself in that situation again - I left feeling invisible and unappreciated. They...
