My wife and I visited Villa Di Roma on February 13, 2020 approximately 5:30 pm for dinner. The restaurant is average in makeup and decor and there were 2 other tables besides us. We were met by our waitress who was friendly. The first part of our order besides sodas was the Super Combo appetizer that included fried cheese sticks, fried mushrooms, fried cauliflower, jalapeno poppers and fried ravioli. It came with a marinara and ranch type sauce. Not bad, tasty and warm. My wife ordered the lasagna with a small salad and I ordered the spaghetti Thursday Night special with a meatball and an extra sausage along with the Sicilian salad. My wife's salad came out first and she stated it was just a chopped salad with very bland tomato. Nothing extraordinary. My salad was delivered approximately 15 minutes later and included bits of processed ham, sausage, green olives, eggs and somewhere might have been the mozzarella cheese. I asked for Italian dressing and it came as a creamy dressing, although nothing I've tasted before as Italian. I would have thought Italian would have meant a vinegarette of olive oil and vinegar and spices. Pretty bland tasting and I could not even finish it due to the lack of flavor. My wife's lasagna was prepared deliciously, both in appearance and flavor. Her sauce was thick and the taste was flavorful. On the other hand, my spaghetti (see pictures) was plopped in a plate of watery, I'm thinking sauce?, but not quite sure. The meatball was tasteless and the sausage was like something I've never had before. The sausage was very heavy for its size and lacked taste and the texture was like an overcooked meatball. The spaghetti itself had an unpleasant taste that I would compare to weak dish soap with the same after taste. Now, please understand that I am second generation Sicilian, a former career firefighter that has done my share of cooking with Italian being my specialty and that I have reviewed many restaurants over the years. My past reviews can be judged by all who read this and you can individually determine my passion and palate for good food. I left three-quarters of my spaghetti along with my un-eaten salad. When the waitress came, she did not even ask how the food was and started to gather the plates. I asked her if she ever had the spaghetti and she replied "no". I showed her the watery sauce and she looked embarrassed. I also stated that I've had many Sicilian salads in my day and this was just a chopped chef salad. We also noticed on our bill that I was charged for my meatball, which should have been included with the special. But we know that she has no control over the food preparation, flavoring nor the presentation and it would be moot to heap that on her. Should we have asked for the manager or the owner? Maybe, but there were now three other tables in the restaurant and this did not need to be aired out loud. Am I looking for a comp meal or a free dinner? No, emphatically! If the food you create and serve to your patrons is what you deem the best you can deliver, then customers like myself should be able to call you out on the deficiencies. Maybe we should have looked at the previous reviews before choosing to dine at...
Read moreI should have have went with my gut and not have ordered but after a long day of work and needing to feed my family I ordered the pizza. I ordered I believe it’s called the villa monster… it’s their biggest pizza. I paid about 36. And some change for the pizza. I had to pick it up because they don’t deliver to my area, that was fine. What was not fine was once I got home and started handing out plates of food I noticed that our pizza was wrong. We always order a half and half sausage on one side, sausage and pepperoni on the other. We received a pepperoni pizza.. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager who offered to give a $10 credit. Or make a large sausage pizza for free. I said I’ll take the pizza because half my house does not eat pepperoni. I asked where they going to deliver the pizza. As I was not going back out. I was told no. Than he said he would do a one time courtesy and deliver the pizza. But than I’d call and say my food was cold… I asked him why would I do that. And he said he would not deliver because it would be over 2 hours to get a pizza. Than he stated it’s his reputation on the line. And he knew I’d call and complain about a cold pizza next when I told him all I want is to feed my family. I had to ask him more than two times to lower his tone and bring down his voice. Because his tone had changed after I stated that I felt my pizza should be free and it should be delivered. Once again he said you only paid $36 for this pizza. That he gave me 3 options which really he only gave 2. After going back and forth with him. I told him keep his $10 and keep his pizza. I will be reaching out to someone higher about this. I’ve eaten at this restaurant my whole life. Ive order with them at least once a week. To have gotten this service and have been spoken to so rudely is crazy and it’s sad how down hill this company is going. When did their customer service became so bad that a so called manager could not even have a responsible conversation with a long time customer. How hard was it to not eat your words and offer things than say you where not going to do it. It’s sad that this will definitely be my last time eating here. After eating here literally since I was a small child but these companies need to go back to having good customers service and be ok with fixing their mistakes when they make them…. All I asked was to have this correct and my pizza to be delivered. Now I have to go back out get more food and spend more money 🤦🏽♀️ oh and only a couple ppl in my household eat pepperoni. So this whole pizza will go to waste. I hope this managers reputation gets him what he needs and that’s...
Read moreLet me say first, I understand that everywhere has supply problems and staffing problems. However, in spite of that I’ve had very good experiences at several restaurants lately. Tonight was different. Also I almost never write negative reviews.
Our server was very sweet. She was the only one working the whole restaurant. That being said my group was one of two tables upon our arrival, it did get busier while we were there. We’ve been eating at this establishment for years, since it was in its original location. It’s been a family favorite; including where we held my father’ 60th bday. Tonight was a major disappointment. My dad’s schnitzel was bland, my mom’s whole order was wrong, but after waiting so long for the food she agreed to take the wrong order after she was told it would take a long time to make a new one. My nephews pizza was not delivered with the rest of the family’s food, and then by the time it actually came the rest of the family was done eating. The rest of our food was fine, but great, not awful, but definitely not memorable.
We ordered 6 main entrees and 6 kid’s meals, 2 glasses of wine and 4 regular adults drinks. Kids meals apparently don’t come with drinks and we were charged separately for these things. Our total bill was $175, which seems quite pricey for what we got. The food was average to poor in quality. Additionally, we got up-charged for butter for our baked potatoes, which we weren’t told about until our bill came. We were up-charged for two dressings for our salads (vinaigrette and Caesar), but weren’t told this was extra. When the bill came it seemed incorrect and the woman who came to assist us was unsympathetic. We were not offered to be comped for our ridiculously long wait or wrong meals. We received no apology for not being informed of upcharges. We had to wait an extraordinary amount of time for lots of things. Drinks were only refilled after asking, sometimes a few times. I know times are tough. But this was exceptionally bad. We won’t be back....
