Read moreThis review comes with utter sadness, shock, and disappointment. What once was a passionate establishment with alluring goals, top-notch quality standards, and well-thought-out beer options - is nothing more than a fast food joint with a Rockford price tag.
For starters, being involuntarily asked to pay for their live band, $10 per person mind you, was aggressive. Initially, I had thought our server was joking - she was not. Although I don't go out as often as I used to, I was very surprised to be asked to cover the company's expenses for the evening's entertainment.
I have, and will likely continue to do so regardless, always boasted that their Hoplust is one of the best IPAs available on the market. However, it seemed very flat and watered down at this last experience. Not sure if this was the bottom of a keg, lowered standards, or a different batch style - it just didn't have that bold hoppy kick I have become accustomed to.
Circa 2016/17- their Butter Burger was a fine-tuned, melt-in-your-mouth burger bursting with flavor while presented on a charcuterie-style board earning 10/10 style points. It alone was a picture-perfect meal out of a magazine. Today, it is nothing more than a Wendy's Deluxe served on a carnival-styled waxed tray. It was extremely uninspiring.
As for the live entertainment, it was fine. My issue was more in their preparation as some of the band members and members of management argued during set up on volume and walked around our table screaming back and forth on a variety of things. They had absolutely no consideration for their surroundings of families trying to enjoy their meal. It was embarrassing, to say the least.
To the owner and decision-makers, I hope that you examine your processes with the realization that revisions need to be made to get back to the expectations your local community desires. Quality standards need to be recovered on all ends of the spectrum. However, based on the other Google reviews where you mock the review with disrespectful emojis, I don't...
Read moreBeing completely honest: it was average. They were very busy and to get on the wait list we had to wait at the bar til one of the bar tenders was not busy and get their attention. Then once I got the txt saying my table was ready, that was all it said, no one tells you what to do next which is just go upstairs and find an empty table. A little confusing but when they're not busy it's seat yourself.
Our waitress was awesome but being that is was busy we had to flag down another waitress for a few things.
Meals were so-so. Beer battered cheese curds were AMAZING!! I'd go back just for those! The burger was a little disappointing and you don't get to pick how done it is just pink or no pink. Which is fine but the person who delivered our food told us this in an irritated way....again they were busy, so... Caesar salad was very dry, definitely ask for extra dressing, and dressing was very fishy tasting, which wasn't a problem for my husband but I couldn't do it. That is more personal preference than anything. We didn't try any beer so I can't comment on that, but the sangria was very good!! Their 'bowls' seem to be popular as they ran out while we were there but again we didn't try them. The building is beautiful and looks to be quite old but very well maintained, a plus in my book!
Overall I would say it's worth going for probably the beer, sangria and the curds, but not sure we would go again. Definitely would try something else for a...
