China Coast — Restaurant in Rockland

I have heard so many good things about this place so we decided to check it out, at first walk into the establishment the lighting was very dim but that didn't hide the pure filth of the area. We then found out they no longer had the buffet option (due to low staffing) very understandable so we decided on take out instead. We got our food (the gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant) and made our journey 45 minutes home only to find out 1. Part of our Pou Pou platter was missing and 2. Our chicken lomein was far from enjoyable. The noodles were mush, and the chicken was so overcooked it was very hard and dryer than the sahara desert. I called to let them know what happened and basically say I was unhappy and see what we could do about it. I just wanted a refund, however I was told i could come back and have it remade. I kindly stated that i had no interest in eating anything else from their establishment. I was not offered the refund I asked for. Basically they should have a sign that reads "enter and eat at...

I can't speak to the food or service as for the first time in 40 odd years, I simply walked out after being seated. Buffett is inoperable but still in the dining area and, like much of the place I could see on my walk through the unvented smoky unlit dining area, being used for storage of random junk in boxes. Absolute shambles, and I'm a pack rat. The dining conditions, light switches and the "divider"/"flooring" between the customer bathroom and kitchen cannot be up to health dept standards. Maybe the good reviews are from takeout, in which case ..please know this is where your food is coming from and be safe. If this is what the accessible areas look like, imagine the kitchen...

I should have walked out when I saw the stack of paper plates and plastic cutlery on the buffet table. Mind you this was Sunday dinner and the restaurant is wild to charge full price to serve on paper plates. Pollutes the environment more. Food slides all over on them. The buffet was very small and nothing had flavor. No one came to check to refill drinks or check how the food was. Didn’t even attempt to eat the ice cream they had for dessert. They store all the scoopers in water that had nats floating in it.Obviously had not been changed in awhile, if at all.Looked filthy.
