Mediocre (at best), over priced food and a horrible waiter. Lucas was rude and didn't want to give us any info about the specials. We had to ask him for the specials. He didn't bring our waters with lemon as requested, and when I asked from them again, he said that there would be a $1.50 charge for them! Yet other people were getting lemon in their water no questions asked. Another table of his wad seated after we were, ordered after us, but received their order and his attention before we did. He was clearly prejudiced against us because he acted totally different with the three people sitting at the other table. When our food arrived, the order was wrong, which was difficult since we ordered the special and there weren't many choices to screw up. We again had to ask for water refills, yet he brings them to the other table without them asking. Yes, we could hear his interaction work the people at the other table. We got up from the table at that point, complained to the manager and told him we weren't paying for something that wasn't correct and that we were leaving. We also told the manager about our waiter, Lucas, and what was happening and all he said was sorry. He didn't seem to care. We will not be going back here and we will make sure we persuade as many people as possible not to...
Read moreUpdate: Mar 2023. We still come several times a month, and the place is still great. Unlike the first time we visited, we usually come on Monday around 5:30 and the place is packed.
Visited La Marimba on a very cold rainy Sunday late afternoon and found we had the place almost completely to ourselves. The wait staff was very attentive - not sure how things would be if there was more of a crowd, but our visit was perfect ... checked on us often, but not too often to disrupt dinner conversation. We enjoyed both the guacamole and queso appetizers. Both had good flavor. The queso had just a hint of 'kick' to it which added to the flavor without burning your mouth so you couldn't enjoy it. Might be too 'weak' for some, but perfect for us. The guacamole was a good mixture of smoothed and chunks but was a bit lacking in onions, and tomatoes to add to the avocado flavor. The Pollo al la Crema had good sized pieces of chicken - appeared to be all breast meat with a hardy, full flavor crema. The Mariscos Moho de Ajo was accented perfectly with a nice vegetable mix, heavy on sauteed onions, that really added to the flavor of the shrimp. Plenty to take home for lunch the following day. The queso reheated fine, retaining that right amount of...
Read moreWent here last Friday Night it was great! So great we went back tonight (Tuesday). This time it was awful. My girlfriends "Real Mexican Taco's" were supposed to have pickled onions on them (per the menu) . They did not they had fresh onions. The server checked with the kitchen, he came back and informed use they don't actually carry pickled onions. We asked to speak to the manager. The manager explained to us they don't carry pickled onions. He said that they use season salt and lime juice. While we were waiting for the replacement food, my 3 year old son spit a fairly large chewed piece of plastic (looked like bunch up Saran Wrap) out of his mouth that was in his black beans. We asked to see the manager again. He sent the server back out to get the plastic and beans. After that the manager returned with my girlfriends replacement food and more black beans for my son. He preceded to tell us he doesn't know how the plastic got in there and that they don't use plastic in there kitchen. Our server however was wonderful.
I gave 2 stars because the last time we went in it was wonderful. I however will not go back to give it another chance. I would recommend people go 200 yards further down the road to a better restaurant...
