Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Rocklin

Very delicious! Would I go there again? Absolutely! But I would probably get some things slightly different next time... Here's the breakdown no one asked for 😁:

Baby back ribs: there was more meat than bone!!! which is amazing in and of itself (width-wise) very addicting and difficult to put down! ^ excellent flavor tender, but not melt-in-your-mouth tender barbecue sauce exterior was burnt/charred and hard/tough (could be a style? just not what I personally prefer)

Brisket and Tri Tip: EXCELLENT flavor! super tender!!! I honestly don't know for sure which was which because they placed them in the same row, but I'd assume the tri tip was the one on the (upper) left, and the brisket was the upper right. The biggest difference was that the (assumed) brisket was tender, but the (assumed) tri tip was even more so, being TRULY melt-in-your-mouth tender 💕

Garlic Mashed Potatoes (side dish, lower left): great texture and taste I was missing more of an actual garlic flavor to it

"Vegetable medley" (side dish, upper left): was just green beans with some sweet peppers, not what I was expecting and didn't end up eating anything more than a bite of not even that great of green beans... 😒

Biscuits with Apple Butter best biscuits I've ever had in my entire life so sweet! and the apple butter went so well with the biscuits and both were just the perfect amount of sweet 💕 apple butter is a whipped butter, which is not what I was expecting buuuttt oh so good! and easier to spread on those deliciously crumbly and flaky biscuits 😋💕

Barbecue sauce: actually was not a big fan of this very strong flavor of barbecue sauce, too... vinegar-y? for me. I can't entirely pinpoint exactly what the flavor punch is, but I personally like more smokey or sweet barbecue sauce

Banana pudding: creamy, smooth, light, and sweet 😍 love that they added banana slices and the Nilla wafers! (as one should for a good traditional banana pudding! 😆 ) • was lighter than I was expecting? I guess I'm used to a bit denser of a pudding, but although I was surprised, I loved it • was missing just a tad bit more of a banana flavor to the actual pudding itself, but I honestly hope they don't change their pudding recipe at all because I loved it and I'd definitely get it again, and I could always add some more banana slices myself if I'm get takeout again next time, hihi 😋

I loved almost everything and the things I loved were sooooo good! so I'm tempted to give this experience a 5-stat review, but I had to knock it down for the toughness of the outside of the ribs, and that "vegetable medley" 😂 [mostly because of the ribs though, lol. I take my ribs very seriously. 😤 Especially when this meal cost me close to $50...

I have not had Lucille's in months since the last three times I visited were such complete poor quality fiascoes. From our experience today, I am guessing that corporate FINALLY came in and thankfully reset the cooking to original quality. Bravo new head chef! Food quality and customer service had been continuously slipping for years. We ordered Lucille's BBQ today via DoorDash. The Dasher was on time and left all requested items at the door. Nothing seemed eaten or tampered with. However, Lucille's could definitely use some tamperproof seals on their bags, containers, and drinks like other restaurants. The original lemonade was good. Unfortunately there was no option to order it without ice to get my money's worth on the lemonade. The drink size has definitely sadly shrunk, and was maybe a medium drink. Not too much ice thankfully. The correct number of included biscuits was provided. A good amount of apple butter was provided with our order of extra biscuits. About 90% of the biscuits were properly cooked golden brown on the outside and completely cooked on the inside. The biscuits were not too hard or soft and properly made. This is a great improvement over my previous Lucille's biscuit experiences. The mac & cheese was nice and thick as I have seen it, sort of medium thick. There finally was a good amount of cheese throughout the mac & cheese, not just on top like many, many times before. The beef brisket sandwich finally had a full quantity of properly vertically sliced and properly portioned and cooked meat on it. This time, ALL of it was good edible meat, unlike previous experiences where there was a lot of connective tissue and fat. This is a HUGE improvement over my last three experiences. The meat was finally crisp on the ends and fully cooked and firm. Best BBQ job so far. One small container of mop sauce was provided, not quite enough to compensate for the proper dryness of the sandwich though. Unfortunately, NO extra BBQ sauces were selectable or provided. In my opinion at least two mop sauces and two regular BBQ sauce containers should be provided with each order for a better moist sandwich experience. The sandwich was the best I have had since this location opened over 15 years ago. Unfortunately, NO moist towelettes were provided. NO napkins were provided either! Definitely an overall improvement, but still some improvement needed. I am encouraged enough to try Lucille's again in few weeks via DoorDash. We will see if they stay consistent or go up and down...

We order from your restaurant on door dash at least 2 times a month. Each time you guys leave items we ask or order for off our order. We spend no less than $100 dollars each time. The reason why I’m leaving this comment and will on other review sites is last night took the cake. We had a special family member over for dinner because they are going through cancer treatment and we wanted to surprise them with a good night and good food. We choose Lucille’s over cattlemen’s because the food is way better. We ordered 2 brisket meals with sides, loaded nachos with brisket, 3 meat meal combo all tri-tip with sides, and a tri-sandwich with one side. Also, a 12 packet of biscuits. Each meal we asked for one biscuit that’s suppose to be free. We wait an hour to hour half for meal to come. During our wait my wife who orders always calls making sure we get our mop sauce and biscuits. We are assured every time we will get everything. Guess what our bag had in it? Everything?! Not even close. The free biscuits were left out. Only received our paid for 12 biscuits, mop sauce was missing, the tri-tip sandwich was missing with the side of Mac and cheese, the 3 meat meal was missing the side of potato salad and what look to be only 2 servings of tri-tip not 3, the nachos were stone called we will blame (driver) on that one, one of the brisket meals was missing the stems vegetables. I’m not a rocket scientist, but I can read a to go order and accessible it right. You have dedicated people that expedite these orders we are told that each time. Yet they can’t get an order correctly done?! Is this the way you make money cause you know door dash will take care of it.(when I say take care is not enough to cover our losses) Did I not mention the Tri-tip sandwich was for my Aunt that has cancer? Yep, we had to split up and share what was left with all of us. You know your food is amazing tasting, but your service is worst than a fast food restaurant. Truly disappointing that I have to take the time to make this poor review for a company who can do so much better....
