Went here last night, as I'd been craving a burger and have found it very difficult to find a good burger in Chicago that's not $23 dollars (sorry Little Bad Wolf).
Located in a gas station, I was really impressed at how clean the space was. One of the first things I noticed was that the table, chairs, and floors were spotless, and what I could see behind the counter was extremely tidy. The owner was super nice, I called beforehand to make sure they were open until 10 PM and he confirmed. I didn't hear them cleaning the griddle until 10, meaning they were prepared to take orders until then, which is awesome.
The pictures aren't edited. The burgers actually just look like this. Kinda felt like I was in an Instagram ad for burgers. The bun was glossy and had this cool stamp on it, the burger was huge (almost a half-pound burger, about 7 oz according to the owner) and everything was piping hot. You could tell they made everything to order and nothing sat around getting cold and gross. I actually couldn't eat the burger for a good 5 minutes because it was so hot, so I had to eat the fries (which were well salted and crispy) while sucking in air to cool them down.
The burger was phenomenal. The patty was cooked perfectly, seared really well and super juicy. The egg was literally perfect, not a single part of the yolk had been cooked to solid and it oozed everywhere, but no undercooked egg white. I have found it is actually very difficult to find a place that can cook an egg well. The bacon was also delicious. Above all, everything just felt really good quality, you can tell they care about serving a good product. That's why, while this isn't the cheapest burger meal you can find, it's the best for the price. I paid $17 for a half pound burger, fries, and coke, and it was worth every penny. Still can't get over how fresh, hot, and delicious it was. Definitely...
Read moreGreat burger! I got the cheeseburger, and was very impressed with the quality of ingredients.
They dressed the burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, sweet pickles, yellow mustard, ketchup, and mayo. I usually go for dill pickles and no mustard; but the sweet pickles and yellow mustard paired very nicely! Overall, it was a more well-rounded flavor profile than my usual toppings!
The bun was amazing. Usually burger buns range from terrible to pretty good, but this one was light, chewy, and fresh tasting. I think they heated it on the grill, and the top was a bit greasy, but it tasted amazing.
The beef was also very nice. If you know what I mean, some ground beef tastes more minced, while some tastes more chopped. This burger was on the chopped side; coarser grain, which I think is a great texture. The meat was also well browned and juicy. Very flavorful, and it tasted fresh!
Edgar, who took my order, also walked out from behind the counter to get me a refill when he saw my Pepsi running low. Great service, and great food!
Highly...
Read moreAs an Edgewater local, I frequent Devon Market for my weekly grocery needs. Every time I'm walking over it takes every ounce of my will-power to not be tempted by the siren call of delicious fresh beef cooking to perfection on the griddle that emanates from Burger Bite. Why should I go buy ingredients, cook them, and then do the clean up afterwards when I am steps away from a burger better than I could hope to make, with fresh crispy waffle fries, and an absolutely stacked milkshake? I cannot recommend this place any more eagerly to those who are curious about it. And if you're not about the gas station location, they now have a full blown restaurant a few minutes out into Skokie. The staff is somehow even more welcoming than the food, and I'm sure it is just a matter of time before they are no longer just a local essential, but a pillar in the city food scene. And if you see me in there hunched over a pile of fries with several empty shopping bags,...
