Parkside Gyros — Restaurant in Rogers Park Township

This place is not far from where I work, so I used to go to it quite often. The food is standard fast-food fare - hot dogs, fries, burgers, etc. Not much of a choice on soft drinks, mainly Coke products and sodas popular in Latin neighborhoods. The prices were reasonable, however, and the staff was friendly. I had stopped out for awhile and started bringing my lunch to work. When I stopped in recently, the same friendly staff was there, and the food offerings hadn't changed. But the quality of the food wasn't what it used to be. If you like and desire Barbecue Chicken this is the restaurant for you. Parkside Gyros broils either a whole or half a chicken with its own homemade barbecue sauce and serve it with delious rice bread and French fries or baked potato. The service is solid and very knowledgeable about all of the products on the menu. The restrooms are clean and sanitary. The restaurant is kept clean and well lit. Being near Touhy Park is a plus. Do NOT order from this place. We ordered a gyro cheeseburger and it literally had 2 strings of meat. The bun was torn in 3 pieces and the burger was split in half. I called to speak with a manager and was advised he wasn't there. The cashier basically said the food is not expensive so what do you expect. McDonalds has $2.00 burger but at least it's neat and not ripped apart. I'd pay more for quality food. If a "restaurant" wants to sell cheap slop just to serve food, they don't need to...
