The Fish Keg — Restaurant in Rogers Park Township

This is a take out spot. Seafood options, plain or breaded, sold by the pound and can be fried on the spot. Side items and Dips are available for additional prices. Not sure what all the options are.

Prices are a bit high for the QUALITY and PORTION sizes of foods put out. Catfish nuggets fell flat on taste. Also, they fried up to little crunchy breaded fish bits and pieces. The hush puppies were over fried and fried in same fish grease making them taste like old fried crunchy fish balls instead of hush puppies. Ate a few pieces of each and trashed the rest. Dissatisfied and disappointed at the fact that this is the only fried fish spot I know north. Needless to say, I will not be back.

My experience was lackluster so there isn't much for me to recommend. Quite frankly, I'm skeptical of the recent 5 star reviews. I can assure you that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING 5 star about the Fish Keg, PeriodT. All or most of products used can be purchased at your local grocer.

After getting the wrong item on our previous visit, we returned to get out promised correct item. That was really great of them to do that. Unfortunately, we get home and our order was completely wrong. We ordered 1 lb of shrimp, 1/2 lb of Cajun catfish, small fries, and our scallops that were hush puppies last time. This time, we received only 1/2 lb of shrimp and our Cajun catfish were hush puppies. Over $30 worth of food ordered through GrubHub and we get $12 worth and half of it we didn't even order. They closed early at 7:30 even though they said they'd be open until 8 on Facebook. GrubHub is working to resolve the issue but when it becomes a regular thing to get the order so wrong, it's inconvenient and makes use hesitate to go back if it's going to be such an ordeal to get what we ordered. Update: Fish Keg contacted me and apologized for the experience. They are working on resolving the matter with a partial refund. I'm glad they have great service when it comes to resolving issues. I have been a customer of Fish Keg for many years, but it ends now, recently stop in for my usual fish & Chips (COD) $30 for a pound and a quarter 2, HS and 2, Tarter Sauce, (expensive as hell) when I got home and looked at the fish I thought it looked different, but then when I tasted the fish I knew it wasn’t COD it was Catfish are you kidding me, I haven’t eaten Catfish in over 20yrs call the restaurant one of the owners I presume told me, Oh it’s possible the fish was cooked in catfish grease, who do you think you talking to Sir, This is Catfish This Joker tells me he’s sorry and bring the fish back!!
