The food is fine enough. The atmosphere is good for families. You have to bus your own tables. If you have ever wanted to try it you won’t be disappointed in the food, but be cautious at the checkout.
I ordered a salad plate with turkey and two sides, and I asked them to add brisket, which is an advertised $3 up charge that I had no problem with (pics attached for proof of advertisement).
What they did instead was charge me for a side salad AND charged me for the turkey AND a half pound of brisket; the brisket alone was a $16 up charge. I used to be a server, and I’m aware of these kinds of tricks. I sniffed it out because they didn’t ask which sides I wanted, which were advertised to be included with the meal. When I started to tell the clerk what sides I wanted she tried to charge me a la carte.
I’m not saying they are predatory crooks, but most people either don’t notice or don’t have the courage to speak up when the line is long. I brought it to her attention, and she called the manager over. The manager came over and had a brisk argument with me about how the brisket is by the pound and that the sides were a la carte till I showed him the menu and proved what I was asking for was an advertised item and not what they had entered into the point of sale. It genuinely ruined my meal to know that the manager was more concerned about speeding me through the line than understanding what was wrong. They did give me the sides for free, but I still had to pay $16 for the added brisket (I’m aware that 3+13=16, but it was $16 for the brisket alone on the receipt with a separate price charged for the salad and turkey)
I will never return. I will never spend another cent at any of the...

The burnt ends are wonderful. I will say it's on the pricey side for BBQ(usually cheaper meats cooked in bulk). I got the 3 meat plate and a beer. The total came to $40. Sure expensive for one person but that's kinda what you are going to get going to any BBQ place.
The meat itself? 🔥. It's wonderful. Like I said, the burnt ends were really good. Their hottest sauce actually has a kick too.
What I was not impressed about(other than price, although I knew what I was getting into) was the portions. I think for $40 I could prolly eat 5-6 orders of the burnt ends. For the price the portions are fairly small. Usually you go to BBQ and get 2 maybe 3 meals on a stretch.
2nd. The sides blow. The beans need to be a bit more tacky. They were good and all but they weren't to die for. I heard good things about the macaroni, but it just doesn't slap as well as I'd thought. It's very similar to boxes shells and cheese but not as thick(it doesn't feel like it sucks the moisture from your mouth and leave you making inappropriate noises with the chewing....macaroni in a pot that's some wet ass.......) I think the macaroni needs to be cooked a smidge longer as well as add some fixings to it. It's kinda bland. What I imagine is a home made macaroni fresh out the oven...not the warmed back up and dry kind but that good good. Know what I'm sayin?
I'll most likely be back for the craving either way.
I repeat, the meat is wonderful. The point of the food/place is for the main dish. It taste great. You won't be let down(imo). The sides sucks and the price sucks. You shouldn't leave hungry either way....I just make sure to elaborate on that since...
Read moreI’m no stranger to barbecue—and when it’s good, I’ll be the first to sing its praises. But the consistent hype around Wright’s BBQ genuinely baffles me. I’ve given them not one, but three chances over the years, and each time has been a disappointment. The first experience was at their Johnson location. The meat was so tough I had to pull out my hunting knife just to get through it. I brought the plate back to the counter and told the cashier it was inedible. Rather than any attempt at hospitality, he got defensive and said, “Everyone likes our BBQ.” I left the plate on the counter and walked out.
The second time was during a company meeting—same story: dry meat, aggressively seasoned sides that made me wonder if the cook’s tastebuds had taken a sick day. It was either syrupy sweet or overwhelmingly salty, with no balance or finesse.
Third time was at an event hosted by Wright’s themselves. Again—dry, unimpressive meat and sides that leaned hard into sugar and salt without much else going on.
I genuinely do not understand the local obsession. Maybe it’s the charisma of the owner (who does seem like a nice and humble guy), or maybe it’s the lack of broader BBQ options in NWA. Or perhaps it’s just effective marketing and community presence. But in my experience, Wright’s BBQ falls short—consistently.
If you're after tender, well-seasoned, balanced barbecue, you may want to...
