Scruff's Grill — Restaurant in Rolla

While on a trip from St. Louis to home, in Forsyth, MO, we found a priceless gem in Scruff's. With amazing reviews, the family; mom, dad and the three boys, decided to stop in and try something new. We were impressed by open environment in the dining area. The dining area was shared with American Taco Company, owned by the same owners. Very clean atmosphere. The family opted to order food items from both places. The 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger (smash burger style), a chili dog and a kid's cheeseburger were ordered from Scruff's. A huge order of nachos and a beef quesadilla was ordered from American Taco Company. The bacon cheeseburger was one of the best I have eaten and it was served with a generous portion of fresh, hot French fries. Scruff's served the chili dog with all condiments on the side, by request, for our youngest child. The kid's cheeseburger was devoured by our middle child. My wife had the nachos, served on a huge tray, and was unable to finish all of it. The beef quesadilla was for our oldest boy and he loved it. Food was delivered very quickly from Scruff's and American Taco Company made the food as it was ordered, right in front of us. This establishment will be a scheduled stop of mine every time I pass through Rolla, MO. If you have never had Scruff's or American Taco Company in Rolla, MO, I would more than highly recommend stopping in for an amazing meal. The prices were equivalent to most at any dine in establishment, but portion sizes and food quality made this one of best dine out...

I'll start by saying that I have never once been disappointed by the food. I'm always full and have never had a disappointing meal here.

However, whoever the red-headed man that works there is is completely out of line and needs to be properly trained on how to speak to people. I have Alpha-Gal and on two separate occasions he has made completely uncalled for comments. The first time, I told him of my condition when he took my order and requested that the cooks please change gloves. He then told me that Alpha-Gal was made by the government and I needed to "do my research and not be blind to facts". The second time he was in the kitchen and when the gentlemen that took our order (he was very understanding and polite by the way) asked him to change him gloves, he stated "Alpha-Gal isn't even real but sure I'll change gloves."

How do people think this kind of stuff is okay to say out loud to your customers faces and where you know the customers can hear you from the kitchen? I probably won't find myself going back to Scruffs due to this. He should keep his opinions to himself and not act so ignorant towards things he clearly has no knowledge on. I don't get to enjoy a meal out very often out of fear of a reaction causing harm to me, and hearing this from someone that I am supposed to be trusting with my food does NOT make me feel good about where I'm spending my...

Bland food. Brought whole family out for lunch. Burgers were fresh but had no flavor, were dry & they had an odd burnt grease flavor ..it tasted like the grill hadn’t been scrapped in a while. Bing bong shrimp is a Great concept but poor flavor execution.. the crispy crunch of the shrimp has a great outside texture I love… but the breading itself tasted like freeze dried cardboard. I’d love to see more bing bong sauce on there. Ranch is tasty. The smells, the vibes, & the visuals are better than the food in my personal experience. I wanted it to be more than what it was. My gf ( a very bland white girl) warned me that the food was unseasoned and underwhelming…but I had to try it for myself(an unpaid wannabe food critic). Over priced for convenient food which is why we made sure to eat it all.. can’t waste hard earned money. I could do better at home. Sad but true. Nice people. Very cool place to visit for a convo and a sweet tea… but not if you’re looking to leave satisfied. Taco side not much better rice kinda tastes...
