I had to edit by Google review from 10 years ago after eating for probably our last time at Gondola. This food was fine and the wait staff did a great job. The reason this is our last visit was solely due to the owner.
Today was Wednesday and they have a Kids Eat Free promotion. On the menu it clearly says that the offer is good for two kids meals per family. When I went to pay they hadn't taken off any of our kids meals so I politely asked them about it. The owner told the cashier to take 1 kids meal off per family. I mentioned that the menu says the offer is for 2 kids meals per family. The owner insisted only one. I reiterated but the printed menu we were given said 2 free meals per family. He said he would do it this time but next time only 1 free meal.
I am a business owner. This business owner can offer any promotions or pricing that he chooses, but you can't do a bait and switch where when you order you are told one thing and then the policy changes when it comes time to pay.
As I mentioned earlier my initial review of this business was from 10 years ago. Over those 10 years we have probably averaged one meal per month. (120 meals x $40 = $4800)
The way the owner made me feel (as if I had done something wrong) by asking him to keep the deal he had made when we ordered just moments before is enough for me to have no intention to return.
This wasn't a misunderstanding or something where an employee might need some more training. This was the owner instructing his staff to cheat his customers. I have no appetite to frequent this...
Read moreI really want to support small businesses but today was the worst visit I’ve had to a restaurant. I was the only person in the restaurant and didn’t have bad service I had no service. From the time I was seated I was ignored. When I was finally able to order my drink the server brought and again ignored me. I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE PLACE. So I place what I thought was a simple order but they managed to get it wrong. I order my eggs over medium and got scrambled. I never even had a chance to say it was wrong, He put the plate on my table and quickly left never to be seen again. I of course ran out of coffee, When I was about to go some myself, my food was cold from waiting, a different server came by and ask if I needed anything. I said PLEASE can I have more coffee. She brought it but was never seen again until I had finished eating. I will say they were very quick to bring the check! When I was paying to leave, I was asked How was everything and I replied are you sure you want to know. The reply was, do you want a copy of your receipt. I took that to mean he did not want to know. Read moreI was really going thru a tough time during Christmas. To put it bluntly i became homeless. My sister was in icu on life support. I took some personal days so i could be with my sister. As a result I became homeless. So i stopped in to speak with the manager and ask him if he needed any work i wasn't asking for anything for free i am willing to work for it was there anything he had to spare for me and my bf bc we were literally starving. He said he had a full staff, but if i could come back in an hour he would be able to help me out. Very nice man. So i came back in an hour and as soon as he laid eyes on me he said hang on just a minute. When he came from the kitchen he had 2 pizzas and a lg. order of spaghetti. I really thought i was going to break down and cry right there in front of him. So i nervously got out a thank you so much sir merry Christmas and God bless you. Of course as soon as I got to the other side of the door I just started crying. Overcome by emotions i cried and thanked God for the food and for this man im pretty sure hes the owner.
