My aunt, son, and I come to this particular location frequently because usually the food is wonderful and the servers are polite, friendly, and check in on us consistently. We usually go here 3-4 times a month but after tonight I don't think we will ever return. When we arrived we were given 2 options for seating right next to the bathroom even though there was plenty of seating inside the restaurant itself. We decided to make the best of it and we were going to sit at the table furthest from the bathroom because, personally, I find sitting next to a bathroom while eating unappetizing. The seats were absolutely filthy. There was cheese and pieces of food all over, so of course we couldn't sit there. So we ended up right next to the restroom. After we sat we overheard our server on the phone in the hallway by the restroom talking to a friend and bragging how there were no managers on duty, which I found to be rather odd. Our server, Paul, paid absolutely no attention to us. When we ordered he wrote my son and my aunts orders down wrong. The server said it was the cooks fault and got my son a piece of bacon to go with the meal but never exchanged the french toast for the pancakes. In fact, he argued the point, saying my son had ordered french toast. My aunt and I both confirmed that he had indeed ordered pancakes but the server never exchanged the french toast, so I told my son to just eat it and that it would be good. My aunt had ordered a rare burger with the cheesy hashbrown balls. Both the burger and the cheesy hashbrown balls were burnt. She had me taste the cheesy hashbrown balls, which we paid extra for, and they were like charcoal. They were horrible. Rather than complain and get into another altercation with the server my aunt just ate it. The server only came over once to check on us, so we had to get up and ask for what we needed 4 times. I might add the two servers where by the kitchen window gossiping about the guests, which I found to be extremely rude. The 1st time I got up I had to interrupt their interlude to request silverware for our meal. The 2nd time I got up I needed a straw as the server only left one for my son and not one for my root beer. Our server at this time completely disappeared so I had to ask the waitress on duty and she seemed irritated that I was bothering her. The 3rd time I got up was to order coffee for my aunt and I but again, still no sign of our server so I had to ask the extremely irritated waitress. The 4th time I got up was to request coffee refills for my aunt and I. My aunt wanted a 3rd refill of her coffee but after the way we had been treated she was afraid to ask and I just didn't want to get up and search for a server for the 5th time. We were going to order dessert since it is my aunt's birthday but after the horrible food and service we decided not to. When we went to pay I gave the server our buy one get one free coupon (I must add that he wouldn't allow me to use the coupon for what I wanted, which was the french toast slugger. He said the coupon wouldn't work, even though that is what I wanted to order. I couldn't understand this because my aunts meal was more expensive so this is the one we would've gotten free because it cost less). All over the internet, your website, and on the coupon page it states kids eat free from 4-10pm and there is no side note next to these statements saying kids don't eat for free if you have a coupon. He refused to give my son his meal for free. Although in the past I have used a coupon and have gotten the kids meal for free. Considering my son's meal was $4 or $5, I found this to be ridiculous. Especially since we spent so much. My aunt was going to use her AARP but the server again refused. This was my aunt's birthday celebration and none of us were happy when we left. I have never been so dissatisfied with a restaurant before. After tonight's experience, unfortunately I cannot recommend...
Read moreThis Denny's seems to be struggling right now. I'm not sure what the source of the problem is, but they seem perpetually understaffed, service is painfully slow, the staff doesn't want to make eye contact, patrons are frustrated and even though it has had a very nice recent remodel, everything is a bit dirty.
I've been coming here off and on for about 17 years. The phsysical atmosphere has greatly improved with the recent remodel, but the windows were greasy, the silverware had to be sent back because it still had food on it, there were eggs, fries and sugar packets on the sticky floor beneath the table. Three of the creamers in the bowl they handed me were already opened and used.
Now let's talk about the service. None of the employees were rude or anything like that, but they seemed miserable. They seemed to feel the frustration of the patrons and didn't want to confront that so they seemed to avoid the tables and any eye contact unless they were taking orders, bringing food or were called over. Frequently, they were being called over for complaints about slow service or incomplete/incorrect orders. I sat here for nearly an hour waiting for my food and overheard at least 4 different meals being partially or completely comped because of complaints. I lost track of the number of times the manager was called over to a table. That brings me to my service. The server was friendly enough though clearly stressed. I got some coffee and ordered a chicken fried steak while my son ordered some nachos. After 45 minutes I was still staring at an empty table and a coffee cup that had been empty for almost 25 minutes. After another 15 minutes, my 11 year old son was well beyond the extent of his patience and I'm sitting here writing this review.
I honestly don't think I'll even finish reviewing the food, because after an hour now I still don't have any food. Something fundamental needs to change here. I'm sure the employees are nice people, they just seem run down and overwhelmed. I feel more empathy for them than frustration for myself. Somebody rescue these folks and help them out.
UPDATE: I felt it only fair to give a final update. About an hour and 10 minutes after I walked in here and just under 1 hour after my order was placed, my food finally arrived. While it took an extraordinary amount of time, I must say that it came exactly as ordered and it was hot and delicious. For what it's worth, my son was even raving about his nachos. When I went to check out, (mind you, I never once complained to anyone) the manager met me at the register and told me that she was comping my meal. Based on her proactiveness, I upgraded my review from 2⭐s to 3⭐s. I wish them well and I'm sure I'll be back again...
Read moreWorst dennys ever. I've tried sitting here and the wait is always terrible. The worst part though is the staff. They are rude to all the sit down customers. The cooks wanna fight customers and the waitresses and managers are ALWAYS rude (night staff). Every time I go in. They are especially dude to the door dashers. The attitude is ridiculous there. The cooks theres a female and a male manager who cooks. They tried to start a fight w a table of men that we're sitting down amd asked how long their order would be as it was taking forever. I've seen a doordasher waiting for his order for over an hour. Last night I went in to doordash not sit down. The waitresses we're complaining about having to get a customer a paper cup. Then they let tables food and doordash orders sit and wait while they gossiped in the back about how HAARRDD their job was and how people wouldn't stop complaining.... They we're talking people who we're waiting to sit down not to complain about the hour wait cause "normally its a two hour wait". Then when thw restaurant was finally starting to empty out they we're gossiping again right by the register and front counter about doordashers being just so rude to them and how they're jobs just so hard cause they had to make change for somebody who wanted all $1 bills. Then the phone rang like 3x (mind u they weren't doing anything but talking up front) and one of the waitresses told the other one not to even answer it cause it was pointless. This happened all night last night (I had several deliveries. I watched from midnight to 5am). Every time I go there I cannot believe the audacity. One if the patrons was talking about all their health code violations (I cannot speak on that as I don't know much about it). I know as a customer they've been rude and yelled at me and other diners. And as a doordasher they have also been very rude and unprofessional to me and other drivers. Need new staff. Very very very unprofessional lazy and rude. Never had any issues with the dennys on greenback in citrus heights or the dennys on sunrise in rancho cordova. Only ever had problems with the staff at this dennys location. Absolutely ridiculous. I'll never dine there ever again and its a shame that I dread having to get a delivery from doordash from there. Needs...
