I have always order take out over the last 2-4 years or so I like to order the Thai dish Pad Kra Pao any ways portion for take out use to be pretty good, but haven’t been there for like a year.. finally got take out again after a year always reading about peoples reviews that the portion gotten way smaller for take out and I was skeptical so I call and order my pad kra pao boy was the reviews right never had I ever gotta a very small portion for 16.00 plus change and I even tip 2 dollars in their lil bucket tip. So I paid got my food in a bag of course I felt the lightness and yes very light I was like dang I was like this is very light and unusual well guess what I got home open the food container I laughed like damn this like for a 5 year old lol not a older man like me lols. Rice was so little lols and the pork was little too. It got that one egg too of course which was cool too always poke it and let the yellow yolk drip out Lols. Took like 5 minutes I was done eating of course I was still very hungry after finishing I was tripping cause I feel like it’s a 5 year old portion only Lols. So of course I was piss but I didn’t call them to say fools ya portion for take out use to be bigger now it’s 5 year old portion lols. I just let it go not going back any more for take out if I want some i just gonna go to the one on larpenteur and wheelock next time I had theirs it was good portion hopefully they didn’t make it small too lols. Haven’t been their for a year too Lols. I should have just went to Hmong village that day but I was craving pad kra pao lols. So if u guys or girls order take out here there is a risk of getting very mini portion even if u pay over 16 dollars lols. I won’t order take out from here any more but if u go in to eat maybe it better portion like other reviews say so.. but I got no one to eat with I eat solo that’s y I prefer take out only. Any ways good bye friends cafe you use to be so good with my...
Read moreSmall, mom and pop family run restaurant with a south-east Asian flair. Conveniently located on Rice Street they're easy to find with a quick run from your downtown work or suburban dwelling. Service is quick accurate friendly, delivered with a beautiful smile and cheery talk.
On the modest menu are several popular Thai dishes including Pho, salads, grilled chicken and fish but my highest rating goes to their really excellent 'chicken rice' (popular nearly everywhere in Asia). And to a section of their menu devoted to Burmese (now Myanmar) dishes. That alone makes it almost unique to the Twin Cities and I'd encourage you to go visit soon.
Their chicken rice is properly made (by Singapore & Malaysian tastes) with chicken stock in the rice, well-cooked chicken meats, artfully sliced to bite-sized pieces while avoiding bones and tough tendons. The 'mandatory' accompanying sauce is ginger-based from moms secret recipe (less chilli heat), bold, distinctive, delicious and a perfect accompaniment to the chicken meat.
My greatest curiosity was reserved for the Burmese foods. Exotic and little-known to me I was eager to explore. As explained by our waitress, Burmese foods are marked by a distinctive, unique blend of curry and such spices as ginger, onions and so on. I ordered a stewed beef curry and it was tender, well marinated, simmered slowly in a well-cooked gravy sauce. It compares very well with the more famous 'rendang' as found in Singapore, Malaysia...

Only complaints are dont expect them early and samosa are filled with nothing but potatoes. ATMOSPHERE: They can get pretty busy on weekends and have only a dozen tables. They open 11am so get their before and you get a table, noon and you'll wait. Worned eating utensiles, chop sticks, cups. Bathrooms could be cleaner. SERVICE: The children staff don't come around and check up on you, refill water etc. They prefer to be on their phone. But ask and they are very quick. NOTE WORTHY: Twice I've been harrased by the homeless guarding the door outside. If bringing family and kiddos, beware because they get angry if you don't donate. Common duo is the asian guy with a tattoo on his face and his buddy who pretends to be handicapped. Be smart just give em a couple of dollars, and you'll be left to dine without the worry your tire will be slashed. Side note, pictures block all windows preventing any view of your car. So in case you gave guards the finger. CONCLUSION: All in all, hole in the wall...
