Homemade ice cream that has been around since 1945 means this place must be doing something right. This takes me on a trip to Placer County where I had the opportunity of trying "Handel's Ice Cream". Having been opened since June 2021, this is the latest of the old school traditional ice cream parlors that take me back to my childhood days. Located directly on Galleria Blvd. in the heart of the retail area in Roseville CA, this place has been a very popular establishment since its grand opening.

I came here during the evening of Sunday 11/14/2021 at around 6:15pm. Even though this was on a cool fall evening, this didn't stop me from my ice cream craving. Parking during my visit wasn't too much of a struggle as these wide open strip malls usually has ample parking. Once inside, the layout was quite spacious with many of the employees working hard assisting the customers while many were replenishing the ice cream.

The menu here is quite extensive with at least 3 dozen flavors to choose from. Everything from your typical chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry to the more elaborate flavors such as caramel apple, horchata, raspberry cheesecake, and cinnamon roll. I ended up going with a double scoop of two different flavors; "Blueberry Crumble" and "Cookies 'n Cream". Price was a very affordable $5.50 and way less than some of the major competition out there, most notably Cold Stone Creamery.

The employee was being very generous with 2 very heaping scoops. I was already quite impressed. The ice cream itself is that of a very thick, creamy, old-fashioned texture that really hit the spot. My blueberry crumble had real pieces of blueberries while the cookies & cream had authentic Oreo cookies embedded in the ice cream. Overall, it was a delicious and amazing treat. For those that do not live close to Roseville, they also have locations in Folsom and Elk Grove.

The only reason why I didn't include a 5-star rating is that many (which was about 90%) of the staff did not have on a mask. I do understand this is Placer County where the health protocols are not as strict but I at least like to be safe; especially with exposed ice cream at a business that primarily has teenagers working inside. Other than that, I was very impressed with "Handel's Ice Cream". My rating, an above...

They used to be good but unfortunately not anymore. I referred lots of my friends and family to that place. But this past Sunday, I was in there, and as usual, I ordered my pistachio ice cream, but when they gave me the ice cream, it was just a green ice cream with no pistachios in there and when I asked them wheres the pistachios she they said it's in the bottom sir, so I start eating the first scoop when I reached half way I couldn't locate any pistachio, so went back and asked them there's nothing in there as you can see? can you do something about they mumbled and said this is what it is sorry we can't do anything about it, I was really shocked with the customer service and it's painful when you pay for something and you don't get what you want, so basically your paying for plain ice cream with name tag of pistachio on it which is scam. And I understand with the customer service because everyone who works in there is teenager so I expect nothing more from them. This is to the owner. Please, you need to have one aged person in there to manage the place or solve customers' issues and know how to speak with customers. Thank you! But as for me, I won't be using that place as my Sunday...

First time customer, Handels is a rarity nowadays as in a place that gives world class customer service, great products, a fair price and a nice place to enjoy it. The ice cream was absolutely great. The price was very fair when compared to the competitors. This place looks to have a culture of excellence. That comes from ownership hiring the right people, actually caring and understanding the importance of this process along with great ice cream. The staff handled the lines efficiently and effectively. The building was properly staffed to meet demand on a saturday evening. My 10 yr old son and I will be back for sure, for the ice cream and the service. Handels, you set the bar pretty dang high on ice cream. John B’s customer service was so top notch and set a very high bar to be met on our next visit. Willingness to be helpful with great positive energy. I have a bit of a handicap and did not feel remotely rushed. I really hope our next experience will be similar. With this great experience comes expectations. I know the ice cream will meet that challenge, will the customer service.? Next up gang.. Great job guys and gals, all of which were...

Handle’s is dangerous—in the best way. They’ve nailed the sweet spot on price, portion size, and quality. If you have impulse control issues, prepare for an internal battle between Ego and Id. This place is the arena where willpower comes to die. Luckily, there are sugar sherpas ready to guide you up Mount Indulgence. It’s an individual journey, but you’re never alone. This is not the spot for anyone trying to “be good.” It’s kid-tested, parent-approved, and if you order the banana split like I did, you might even convince your doctor it was fruit-based wellness. If you like ice cream, you already know. They’ve got your favorites—and your favorites’ favorites. Greatness has an origin story. For ice cream, it’s Handle’s.

Good ice cream, large collection of flavors (>30 including a few vegan ones), friendly staff and ample indoor and outdoor seating. You definitely taste the flavor and the texture is smooth and good. Prices are really good ($5.75 for 2 scoops). They also have milkshakes, ice cream cakes and sandwiches. They also have many options that include add ONS like chocolate chip, brownie bites, caramel etc that add texture. I had the French silk pie (nice flavor but the texture was not to my taste) and vanilla caramel brownie which was really good.
