I usually give places 3 tries to make sure that I just wasn't having a bad experience, but it most certainly isn't me. All three times I've ordered nearly the same thing via pick up in store, and all three times have been nothing but disappointing.
I decided to try here given all the really awesome reviews and maybe I'm just not going at the right time, but the food is disappointing at best. I will not be back simply due to the food.
I live 5 minutes from the restaurant. My food is always cold when I pick it up. I place my order on door-dash when I'm in the car on the way home from work and usually pick up within 8-10 minutes of ordering. So either the warming tables aren't set to appropriate temperatures, or - they literally let the bag sit out on the counter getting cold (which has been the case for all 3 times I've ordered). Wrap the containers or put the bag in a warming unit.
The beer battered onion rings are not beer battered. They are breaded. Every single time I've ordered, the onion rings have been breaded and not battered. Fix your menu to reflect that.
The buns are abnormally dry and have nothing on them to provide moisture to the bun. I threw the bun away every time as they had NOTHING on them to keep them moist. It was like chewing the Sahara. Please improve your buns.
The roast beef is bland, flavorless and extremely chewy. It's like they threw meat in the roaster with ZERO seasoning. The last time I ordered my beef was very pink with no color that implied that it was roasted. Please use seasoning and roast your meat so we can tell it actually WAS roasted.
The meat on my sandwich is usually cold. If these are supposed to be hot, please do a better job of heating the meat and keeping it hot.
The homemade cheese sauce tastes like nacho cheese from a can and the macaroni and cheese that is home made literally is nothing but noodles smothered in that same cheese sauce. There is nothing homemade about that cheese sauce or macaroni and cheese. I've picked up something similar at the Cub Foods deli cooler that was literally the same temperature and...
Read moreWhen a friend recommended this restaurant, I was eager but cautious, as new dining spots can be hit or miss. However, this place turned out to be a delightful discovery, and my initial visit was merely the beginning of a culinary love affair that saw me returning multiple times over the next few weeks.
From the moment I first sank my teeth into their offerings, I was hooked. The meat here is nothing short of spectacular – incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor, it’s clear that they’ve mastered the art of BBQ. Each bite was a symphony of smoky, savory goodness that had me dreaming about my next visit even before I’d left the table.
And let’s not forget the sides! This restaurant doesn’t just stop at serving amazing meat; their selection of sides is equally impressive. From creamy coleslaw to perfectly cooked beans and cornbread that melts in your mouth, each side dish complements the main course beautifully. The portions are so generous that you’ll leave feeling like you’ve enjoyed a feast fit for a king.
The staff also add to the charm of this place. They’re consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy making your dining experience as pleasant as possible. It’s like being welcomed by old friends each time you walk through the door.
One of my absolute favorite features, though, is the condiment bar. This is no ordinary setup; it’s a veritable treasure trove of sauces and toppings. Whether you’re in the mood for something tangy, sweet, spicy, or all of the above, there’s something to elevate your meal to new heights.
In conclusion, this restaurant has quickly climbed to the top of my favorite BBQ spots list. With its mouthwatering meat, delectable sides, generous portions, friendly staff, and that unbeatable condiment bar, it’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good food and great service. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll be back for more,...
Read moreUnfortunately, my last few experiences here have been less than stellar. The staff are great, as always, but the roast beef, which used to be outstanding, has been overdone, dried out, grey, and almost inedible the last three(!!) times I've been here. Similar to what would happen if you took great roast beef and microwaved the hell out of it.
Similarly, the coleslaw, which was a really solid side and one that can be great or go so so so wrong from restaurant to restaurant, seemed "off."
This was the case one evening a couple months ago, but I figured maybe it was just an off night. Somebody messed up. Given all the previous great experiences, I continued to go back. Unfortunately I had nearly identical experiences multiple times afterward. My most recent time there, the roast beef was SLIGHTLY improved, but still very overdone and lacked any of the wow factor that made this place remarkable.
This is confusing to me, because for many years Mavericks has been outstanding. When the ownership changed, things were as good or even better than before, and it was obvious that real heart was going in to the business. Unfortunately it's clear that something has changed in recent months. I'll still go back, hoping to see things get back on track again. A real gem of a local restaurant when it's on, but when it's off, it's an expensive...
