This was our first visit to this restaurant and it won't be our last! I ordered the five meat balls (Keftedakia) $17. My daughter ordered pastitsio which is like a Greek version of lasagna $17. These two entrees come with rice pilaf, Greek potatoes and Greek green beans. My wife ordered the charbroiled chicken breast salad $18. We ordered the spinach and cheese pie triangles for our appetizer $12.50. Complimentary bread and water are served upon seating. The appetizer came in about 10 minutes. It was very good and we could tell it was made to order. We waited about 30 minutes for our entrees but during that time they replenished our bread and water with polite service. When the entrees arrived they arrived on a rolling cart. The plates and portions were huge! No skimping here! The simple Greek green beans covered in tomato sauce were excellent. We all said that the boiled Greek potato had such an awesome spice on it what we have never tasted before! It turned a simple boiled potato in to a meal upon itself. It was that good! The rice was also excellent. Again, the food portions were huge. My wife loved her salad which had a lot of charbroiled chicken in it. All three of us could not finish our portions. That has never happened at other restaurants. They supplied the boxes to take it home. We will get another meal from the leftovers. The only negative is I didn't see that that had lemon rice soup on their menu! I would have loved to have tried their version. I'm going for their...
Read moreI grew up working in a Greek family restaurant for 10 years and have a deep appreciation for authentic Greek cuisine and quality service. I am friends with the proprietor of this fantastic restaurant. Andy Andreou is a hard working entrepreneur that expects only the best for his patrons. I have always admired Andys mother for her own incredible cooking skills. Mama has since passed on but is smiling down from the heavens as Andy has honed his own time honored skills and has provided a new restaurant that promises to stand the test of time in this region. A seasoned waitress at a competitor's Greek restaurant actually told me that this new authentic restaurant was coming to Merrillville a month ago; the word was spreading in the streets as they say. This establishment, only 5 weeks old as of this posting, is bustling and when my wife and I arrived at 5:00pm sharp, the parking lot was almost to full capacity. It is a spacious venue so we were seated immediately. The service, quality of food and drink, as well as ambiance were excellent. Large portions are served as Mama would have offered. After dinner we congratulated Andy on our wonderful experience and apparent success of his business. Andy said, "I have been working so very hard to ensure that my business is a success. Funny thing is, I have not needed to advertise yet. It is all coming along and standing on its own." It...
Read moreWas picking up to go orders weekly for almost 3 months. Also ordered the same food repeatedly. I ordered a chicken kabob dinner and a pork kabob dinner to go. I get home and open both orders and they were both chicken and neither of them were cooked all the way. For the first time EVER I called and told them my order wasn’t correct I asked to speak to a manager. The woman who answered the phone told me to just come straight back and grab a new order. I live 20minutes away. When I got there a man came out and told me my food was pork and my order was correct I showed him pictures and he still insisted I was a liar. Then proceeded to ask me why I didn’t bring the food with me to return it… I explained that the “manager” told me to just come straight there and grab a new order and that I threw the chicken out because it was UNCOOKED chicken. He proceeded to tell me I needed to pay for my food that I was told to come grab when the manager said to just come get it because she knows I’m there weekly! So I explained what was stated all over again and he tried to tell me “I complain weekly” well if I complained weekly why would I come back weekly?? So long story short literally the worst customer service I’ve received in a long time. Do not order their chicken and pork kabobs because they don’t know the difference between pork and chicken. And they will Also give you...
