Just like many other people in the world I have been tremendously affected by this pandemic. Due to this hardship I started to work with insta cart. I live in Lynwood Illinois about 30 mins from the Merrillville location. Friday morning I woke up at 5am to make it to Costco at 6am so that I could get a good batch. I received a $100 dollar batch and was very excited walking on the door. When I got to the door, I was asked to show my batch. No problem. Then the lady at the desk asked me to wear the paper apron around my neck. Because of this virus I was concerned and asked simply "Do I have to?" The lady immediately turned around and told the lady behind her what I had asked. Her name was MYRTLE "the supervisor". She came towards me full force and said "If you don't want to wear it, Get out my store" I replied " I only asked a question. You don't have to be so aggressive. Everyone is going through it right now, you should understand my concern and be a little compassionate" Myrtle then took things to another level and asked me to leave... I asked to speak to a supervisor because I did nothing. I did not yell. I don't curse EVER, so I didn't understand how we ended up there. Myrtle started laughing saying she was the supervisor. But she did bring a Spanish guy over. Her flunky. Young guy. Forgot his name. He wasn't "as" rude But by the time he made it to me I was in tears standing by the door. I had put on the apron after wiping it down with sanitizer. Yet the guy started chastising me. Told me I needed to take my headphones out. I said "ok that's new" but proceed to take them out. After that I stood there until he got done talking to me like a child. I asked could I go in now. Still in tears! He said yes!!! I walk from the back of the store to the front to get a cart and look behind me and it's the Spanish guy following me. He then says " You know I changed my mind, you can go " I was shocked because he just let me in and I did everything he asked. So I CALLED the police. Again this was a $100 dollar batch that I really needed and was previously excited about. I thought I was off to a good morning. Anyway the police came and of course they agreed with employees. Myrtle told the Spanish guy she "didn't feel comfortable and tell me to come back after 10am" So, I'm crying and she felt uncomfortable? Come back after 10am shows that I was not belligerent at all. I'm sure whoever is reading this may not be familiar with instacart but we CANNOT cancel batches once we start shopping. When you walk in the door they ask you to start your batch. That's what I did. When I got in my car insta cart thought I was lying and ended up reporting that my whole batch was "missing" and I got a bad review from the customer. For 4 hrs my account was placed on hold until they investigated it. Due to Myrtle being a Angry unprofessional black women... I missed out on more than $100 dollars and I want to stress that fact, because again it was 6am. It's a pandemic going on. I got up out my bed and drove 30 minutes to Indiana. She made me miss money for hours, yet she made hers. It's sad the way we are treating each other right now. As a large brand Costco I hope you can understand why this is so upsetting. I tried calling the company a few times and I can't reach a human. I also recorded the situation on my phone and have 17k followers. I only share positive content but If no call to action happens after this, I'm considering posting. I believe this is a good company. Who you have working for you is another story. I suggest if you ever need a supervisor visiting this store if it's Murder Myrtle RUN. She will kill the good vibes. She is not a good person. Never in a million years would I have thought asking one question would have escalated so far....
Read moreI came in to grab a few things and saw a sign directly above fruit by the foot so I grabbed 2 boxes. The sign showed $11.99 w/$3 off. Once I got to the register the savings weren't coming off so I told her I could go back and take a pic. The lady who "bags" the items went back and took a pic. Apparently the only pic above the fruit by the foot was incorrect and there was no fruit by the foot sign anywhere. Both ladies actually said they would've thought the same because as a customer you're literally only looking at the price above the item plus the original price of the item listed was the same as fruit by the foot. I asked her after she came from speaking to the manager if he was going to adjust the price after she showed him the picture and she had me ask. Almost like she was scared to ask or intimidated. He was near us so she finally asked and he wasn't understanding or sympathetic at all...just said nope it's a different item and walked off. Almost as if he was talking to kids like basically he said what he said end of story. I've never encountered a non smiling unhappy Costco manager before until this incident. Prior to this I was taking my toddler to the restroom and I usually park the cart by the gate at the end of the checkout lanes and he kind of yelled out loud like "hey you can't take unpaid merchandise past the checkout." I explained to him where I always park my cart and he still was so adamant and actually kind of caused a scene like I was a thief. He could've easily just walked up to me instead and greeted me as ma'am and explained but he came off rude during both instances. He literally had me park my cart instead less than 6ft from where I normally park itđ. Quite nitpicky! Needless to say I probably won't shop this location if this is how customers are treated...I'll just stick to Sam's Club or Orland Park Costco location. I've never had issues and no one has ever said anything in years. It's not like the restrooms are by the exit door, they're on the whole opposite side of the building and last I checked as long as customers don't take merchandise inside the restroom or outside the building then there's no harm in it. He seems a bit too uptight. I've even shopped in the past then went to grab food in the cafe with my cart PAST CHECKOUT and nobody...
