Bob Evans — Restaurant in Ross Township

Decided to have an early dinner with a friend at this location. They weren't very busy, so we figured it would be a quick meal. We were seated pretty quickly and given drinks right away, so that's a positive. The server told us pretty quickly that the kitchen was a little behind, but we weren't really in a rush, so it wasn't a big deal to us. We ordered the cinnamon dough bites in the meantime, while we decided what to eat. About a half hour later they showed up without the cream cheese dip they are advertised with, so I asked the server for some. She had no idea what I was talking about (there's literally a picture on the menu of it), and said she "wished they had something like that". So that was a little bit of a red flag. Friend and I both ordered breakfast; I ordered the banana berry pancakes that comes with eggs and a side of potatoes and meat (I chose home fries and bacon). Friend ordered chocolate chip pancakes without all of the extra chocolate syrup on top + sausage patties. It took over an hour for any food to show up, but we waited patiently. Our server brought out my food + friend's sausage, which was EXTREMELY overcooked. It was black on both sides and tasted burned. Our server didn't acknowledge it being burned, and said she'd be back with rest of friend's food. My food was cooked ok, but they gave me the wrong potatoes, which I don't love but it was fine. Almost 15 minutes later, my friend's food finally shows up. She cut her pancakes, and all of them were very undercooked inside. Which is both disgusting and a food safety issue. Friend sent back food and asked for it just to be taken off the bill, she was no longer comfortable eating there. The server took the food back and basically avoided our table until she decided to drop off the check (she did take off friend's food). I finish my meal and eventually another person (possibly a manager, but she never identified herself) comes and asks how our food was (like she wasn't already aware of the issue), and friend tells her what happened. The woman then offers my friend a door dash dash order that never got picked up, and had to have been sitting on the counter for some time, since it never got picked up. It was completely ridiculous, and I can't even believe that was their remedy. I went to pay my check, and it took another 10 minutes for someone to take my money, despite 4 different people walking past me, never bothering to acknowledge me. A man finally came and seemed annoyed I was there trying to pay. He never asked how the visit was, never said thanks, or anything else to me at all. I would avoid this location. Undercooking the food and offering old food could definitely be a food safety issue. The Chesterton location is awesome, and was like a complete 180 from this place. The food was okayish but the understaffing was horrible. When we first walked in we saw about 4 ladies standing at the cash register. We stood at the booth just staring at them waiting to be seated. Finally a girl who looked like she just clocked in still putting her apron on came up to us and asked us if we were ready to be seated. The group of ladies by the register were apparently to busy with their conversation to seat us. After we sat down we ordered right away. It took 1 hour to receive our food. And when we got it the sausage was burnt pancakes dark. We were missing parts of our order and when we told the waitress she said they only had one cook on and it would be awhile longer to get new food. I had 2 young children with me who were already sitting there for 1 hour to get pancakes. I wasn't going to have them wait anymore. I told the waitress to just take what was missing off my bill. After we ate I went to pay. Again 4 girls just standing at the register still talking not doing anything. Finally I said, " Excuse me I'd like to pay my bill so I can leave now. Can one of you please check me out." The girls looked at each other then argued about who was on the register. Finally after a few more minutes I got checked out.

I love Bob Evan's. The food is normally amazing but the customer service and food I recieved was dreadful. I won't be returning for awhile. Something needs to be fixed with your employees. 7 waitress on staff only 1 was actually doing her job while the others talked about their holiday plans and 1 cook who seemed extremely overwhelmed with orders. Awful experience here today. The restaurant was very slow for breakfast but the staff was very busy working on a large catering order. How do I know this? Well they will mention it as much as a person who does cross fit mentions that so every five minutes. As a result, it took me about seven minutes to be seated. The lady who did that was pleasant enough though. However, it was another ten minutes to get a drink order and when I mentioned that I am ready for both I was told that someone else takes the food order.

Another ten minutes later and my food order was taken. I then watched plate after plate of food stacked up on the heat lamp shelf waiting for people to get their food. For about fifteen minutes these plates just sat under the light until wait staff was able to break away for a minute and bring them.

During this time, my waitress was MIA. I have no idea where she was and none of the other people there were willing to make eye contact. Finally, the young lady who does the bussing of tables came by and I asked for some more tea. She happily got it for me. In fact, this lady was the only person in the place who hustled.

When my food finally arrived it was missing the toast. My waitress promised to be right back but I was not really feeling confident after not seeing here for so long. Sure enough, I finished my breakfast and two cups of tea before she came back and asked if there was anything else I needed. I mentioned the toast and she said oops someone took it to another table by mistake. She then asked do I still want it?
