El Chaparral Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Ross Township

I would give a zero star if I could. It’s a long read but worth it.

My family and I just left this establishment after a very terrible experience. My mother ordered her food with no cheese on anything and I asked for a burrito with beef and beans inside and rice ON the side after Briana the waitress explained I could order custom burritos. We also asked for a few sides of enchilada/red sauce, something that is always complimentary in every other Mexican style restaurant we’ve been to. We get our food and I add some queso to the top of mine and my mom starts eating hers. Once she gets to her burrito she finds that there is cheese on the inside. She just picks it off as Briana had not been by the table that frequently and she obviously just wanted to eat her food. I cut into my burrito and find that there is NO beef and there is rice and beans inside said burrito. I cut all the way down just to make sure it wasn’t hiding somewhere as we know it can do that sometimes and there was none. I tell Briana that I ordered it with beef and beans inside and rice on the outside. She says that she will bring me a side of ground beef. That was not ok, so I explain that I needed a new burrito the way it was supposed to be made and some extra queso to replace what was on the current one. She rolls her eyes and walks away. She brings back the food and drops it on the table and walks away. She then started being short with us and not coming by as often for refills. We were past done with our food and she finally comes by to ask about boxes. I say no but I needed a refill please. She brings my drink and again somewhat drops it on the table in a rude manner and walks away. 15 mins of not seeing her in the dinning area and having yet to receive our check, she walks by and asks again about boxes. We say no but we need our check. After reviewing our check we see that she charged us for the 2 sides of red sauce that did not taste good and on the check it specifically said “no cheese on anything” in all caps for my mothers food and for mine it specifies the exact way I ordered my food. At this point I was quite frustrated so I ask a gentlemen at the front counter to speak to a manager. Next thing we know Briana, our waitress, walks up and says “my MOTHER the OWNER isn’t here right now” in a very condescending tone. I just start to explain all the issues we had and how our treatment wasn’t right or called for. The entire time I’m speaking she is grinning at me as if it was funny that she had given us poor service. At the end she smiles and sarcastically says that she’s sorry and just stands there. We finally pay and she starts being condescending again to inform us of “next time etc”. I’ve not experienced this type of behavior in a restaurant setting before and it was completely uncalled for. The food itself was okay but definitely not the best Mexican style food...

I must say the food was good but the portion size on the enchilada plate was way too small for the price. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and I enjoyed the Mexican music. The reason for the two stars is this: After we were seated, I was looking at the margarita menu and thought it was odd that their menu doesn't have a description for the ingredients/recipes for the margaritas. Because of that, I asked the waiter what kind of tequila they use. He responds by saying it's a house tequila. Fair enough right? Not so. The margarita comes, I taste it and immediately thought something is off as it tasted like lemonade with ZERO tequila. A different waiter comes by our table, so I asked him if he can give me a shot of tequila so I can add it to my drink because it tasted weak with no tequila. He proceeds to tell me "ma'am, we don't have tequila." We put wine that tastes like tequila in our margaritas. I said "Are you SERIOUS?" When our original waiter came back by the table, I asked him about this wine that they put in their margaritas. It was only then that he explained that they don't have a liquor license so they can't serve tequila. So again, the reason for the two stars is I don't appreciate being lied to. A restaurant that advertises that they have Margaritas but are not fully transparent that the Margaritas don't have tequila in them is false advertisement. To make matters worse, they have the audacity to charge what you would pay for a premium margarita for a drink that is NOT A MARGARITA. My suggestion to this restaurant is to be TRANSPARENT and change your menu and call the drink what it is: WINE. Or call it a WINE...

Wife and I traveled particularly to this restaurant for the food (45 +mins travel). Our server Laurentina, did not seem friendly nor like she cared to be there. She had one larger table (which obviously was too much for her) one table of two and my wife and I. We ordered our meal, and Tina was gone. My wife had to go up to her for a food allergy item, and she seemed unalarmed but said yes sure.. but when food arrived Tina deleted the food item on both plates. We didn't fuss about it but then we had to ask for refills, which my wife did not get. I asked for salsa for my tacos we never got, Tina finally got to our table as we stacked plates and said I'll get you that refill. She eventually again passed our table( no refill) but handed us the bill.. 36+ dollars in passing, I asked if they did military discount. Tina said yes are you both Military, honest answer was no but she is my wife.. Tina explained only person in military gets a discount. No fuss, we said ok no problem. Funny enough the bill came back 37+ dollars.. How do you think? Well Tina "forgot" to add the sweet tea drink my wife had and decided to add it after she deducted the discount. So we paid more, when Tina took our payment she said "y is there a problem" we said only our bill was more than what It was.. her response was "oh I forgot to add your drink so I added it when I gave you the discount. Tina was very unprofessional, didn't discuss she had made the mistake prior to giving us the bill, and was completely unapologetic of any of the complaints above. Please if visiting location on 1604 do ask to be seated anywhere but nit with Lauren Tina as...
