My husband and I have been here three times. The first time was perfect. The second time not so much. The third, and last time ever, was disappointing. I ordered cheese enchiladas but wanted melted, not crumbly, cheese inside and on top. I also wanted it smothered with the red enchiladas sauce, not mole. I told the server no less than five times that I did not want the Traditional Enchiladas. She insisted that is what I need to order because I wanted cheese, not meat, and that is what is listed on the menu. Well, I received the Traditional. She asked if everything looked okay. No, this is not what I ordered. She offered to take it back. Well, if you couldn't get it correct after being told five times why bother? My husband ordered beef enchiladas with the red sauce, not mole. His came with the mole. She said because he ordered meat, that is the sauce you get. What?? He specifically ordered the red sauce. That server needs to learn to listen to the customers and think outside the box instead of strictly going by what is on the menu. We will go to Sante Fe when we want good Mexican food...
Read moreThere’s a new King and Queen in the Mexican culinary scene is NWI, Jacaranda in Merrillville is at the peak! Ran by a wonderful family, Mom and Dad work the kitchen and the food, and 3 proud, respectful, well spoken children take care of the service and whatever is left. New, clean, bright and simple are words that come to mind while dining here, but the stars are the food and exceptional service! Food was fresh, hot, flavorful and well seasoned, everything is home made, even down to the desserts. The young ladies serving were super friendly, attentive, fast and maintained a great conversation while supporting the family restaurant! Portions were almost too generous but no complaints on my end. We will definitely be back and suggest everyone give this place a shot and support this great location. Quite certain that if they maintain the levels of quality demonstrated today, more locations are inevitable! Thanks for the great...
Read moreSeriously so happy to have found this place! It’s literally across the street and the food is amazing. The decor inside is so cute. The walls are nice and colorful as are the murals and the decorations through out. The service was great- it’s a family operated business . Our server said her dad made our food. We order the horchata which was nice and sweet but not too much. We came there for authentic Mexican breakfast and that’s what we had. We ordered Huevos Rancheros and Chillaquiles , along with the fideo soup. Everything was delicious. The huevos rancheros were cooked just as we had requested and had the perfect amount of kick. The chilaquiles were fresh and had a nice crunch and they were tortillas cut in house not premade bagged chips. So delicious . The fideo soup was really good too and seasoned just right. We will be back time...
