If I could give them NO stars I would. My husband, sister and I went there last night and I was not impressed. After waiting for 10 minutes to get seated (not bad), our waitress took about 15 minutes to get our drinks and get our orders. My sister had ordered a salad and when it came back, the waitress left the table without giving us any silverware. I had to go to the bar to get silverware. Then we waited OVER AN HOUR for the food to come out. When the waitress brought out our food she said, "Sorry for the wait, hope it was worth it." Yeah it wasn't.... I ordered Cajun Alfredo, which by itself was reasonably priced but I wanted meat on it and that brought the total to $16. (And you get 5 tiny shrimp) The shrimp were DRENCHED in cajin spice that tasted like someone dropped the can of seasoning overtop of it after they had already cooked it. The entire dish was cold and it tasted like someone opened a jar of alfredo sauce and poured cajun seasoning into it. My sister had the crab cake sandwhich. The crab cake wasn't even seared and I'm not really sure how they even cooked it. The crab cake was dwarfed by the bun and she said had an overly mushy and unappealing texture to it. My husband had the 'Pittsburgh Style' capacola sandwhich and said it was bland and the fries that he had to pay extra to get were cold and hard. They were most likely refried and then let to sit forever. When we complained about our meal, the 'manager' (ie another waitress) came over and said they were having an 'off' night. They took my pasta dish off the bill, because I refused to eat it. But we still paid over $40 for my sister and husbands meal. They offered us a $10 gift card to come back and 'try the experience again when they are having a better night.' No thanks, I'll keep my money and cook something at home. Bottom line, avoid this place. The prices are overly high and the service was JUST as terible. I'm sure the Kmart diner right behind this places is better than this...
Read moreSeasoning for the love of all things! Fries, sauce for stuffed peppers, and the steak just bland.
If you're going to serve items, ensure they have an additional flavor outside of their base flavor to enhance the item. Especially when serving an already cooking steak on a hot stone, this should have at minimum had salt and pepper before hitting the stone.
Truly my fault for assuming that this sirloin steak would get to at least medium cooked, as this was a new experience and none of the servers offered any true advice on how to proceed with my fork to cook this thing. I ended up just cutting it up to get it to where it wasn't raw. My boyfriend was long done with his meal by the time I had began mine. I ended up asking for butter and lathered my steak in it after attempting to season it once I realized it hadn't been. I don't like butter that much but it was a significant improvement.
They also did what someone else had mentioned, she said about a side salad as if it was included with the entrée and then had a charge for it at the end.
Also previously mentioned, was how hot it gets, we happened to be at the thermostat, 78 degrees, I was getting uncomfortably hot. This led me to drink my beer faster, I ordered a water next instead.
The fried pickles were legitimately the only decent item received and as everyone else said, it's overpriced for the underwhelming experience. This definitely seems like it's got its regulars, as Rachel (a staffer) was mentioned in stories from the louder patrons at the bar...
Read moreThis was the first time I had been here. It was a beautiful day and we chose Sonny's so we could sit outside. There obviously wasn't enough staff. We stood on the steps for about 15 minutes while 3 different employees went back and forth never acknowledging us. There were dirty tables everywhere! Customers were trying to get the servers attention for boxes, checks, refills, etc. We contemplated walking away and looking back, maybe should have. Never saw a host, manager or bus boy the entire stay. We were finally told where to sit and it took about 10 more minutes to have our drink order taken and another 10 to get the drinks. We ordered nachos for an appetizer. They took near a half an hour to come out and weren't very good. They were actually very bland and had a weird medicinal taste. We needed refills for our drinks and she delivered the wrong ones. The food finally arrived. My husbands chicken parmesan was ok and my Pittsburgh sandwich was good. Would have been better I think if not toasted and after all the waiting time my fries were limp and barely warm. I can't say that I will be telling my friends and family about this place or rushing to come back any time soon. We eat out quite a bit and it seems as though many restaurants aren't staffing enough people. I suppose the money lost during shut downs needs to be recovered but it shouldn't be at the expense of the customers. Makes me wonder how they will function when they are back at...
