The 1920 Tavern was perfect at accommodating my large party of over 20 people! Working with Jenna beforehand to make a booking for my parent's anniversary party was wonderful, and she, and the whole restaurant team, was so welcoming, hospitable, and attentive. I especially appreciated the service quality in regards to ordering, cooking, and delivering the food in such great time considering the large group that we were. That was one of my draw cards to this restaurant, that, even though they were packed and busy, the kitchen could handle our orders (without requiring a pre-fixe menu with an expensive spending agreement). I made this reservation by inquiring under the private events section of their website, and Jenna responded promptly and succinctly, and guided me through the whole process, as this was my first time planning such an event. The restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere, and they had us all set up in the rear room. We did have other parties dining near us, but I preferred this cheerful and excitable -but without being a wild unhinged party- sort of an atmosphere, anyway. I liked not being shoved away in a private room all by ourselves, away from the fun. The seating situation just made the vibe even more friendly and suitable for my group! The staff was quick at adapting when we would shuffle around in our seats and mingle with our friends. The restaurant staff also had no problem when some of my friends came in a bit early to set up some flowers, presents, and cake for my parents. And when they all agreed to yell surprise when my parents arrived! The food was delicious, from a lovely menu with such a range of meals for every diet! For the quality, location, and the service, I wouldn't say the food was overpriced! The serving sizes kept everyone satisfied. My dad especially enjoyed the Lamb Chops, and quite a few of my party loved the Calamari as well! As for the beverages, these came again in a wide range from the menu, and everyone enjoyed their orders. The owners were so nice as to bring us a free round of lemoncello shots! You can really feel the family atmosphere amongst the staff as well, and you feel a part of it! They were just so caring and understanding. Everyone, especially Jenna, kept checking in with us, and we even chatted with her father from South Africa as well! They really make you feel at home. Overall, the restaurant was the perfect pick for my parent's anniversary dinner. They made it such a special night and I look forward to coming back soon! Thank...

My sister and I just left this restaurant, and there are some things I’d like to talk about, not all good. Today is my birthday and we came to celebrate, with my sister surprising me. Unfortunately we had to stop my birthday celebration early for the behavior we encountered.

I gave the restaurant 2 out of 5 stars - one star for the food, one for the service and the ambiance. The food was delicious and came out quickly. Our server Rick was so nice and very efficient. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and I have no complaints about that.

However, we arrived at 6:12 and had a reservation at 6 - we only got a notification that our table was ready until 6:10. We were met with an attitude from the hostesses who said we would have to leave by 7:30 because of a party coming in. Ok, not a problem.

We sat, drank, ate and at around 6:45 I noticed that the hostesses and I guess a manager (short brown hair, older lady) kept walking back and forth around our table and staring at us indiscreetly. I felt like we were being rushed and it was still 45 minutes before they said we had to leave. I must’ve counted about 10 times they kept walking by us and looking at us. It made us very uncomfortable. I do not like to eat with people watching me like a vulture. It would not have made a difference if we were there at 6:10 on the dot, really. And yet they were acting like we had greatly inconvenienced them. Finally we left even though we wanted to get more drinks in the half hour we still had left because I had enough. It was a lot of negative energy.

No complaints about the rest of the staff, but the hostesses and manager made us feel very weird like we were not the type of people they want in their restaurant. We are Latina so maybe we were being profiled but I am a respectable young lady and have been a registered nurse for 4.5 years. I tipped 20% and we did not order cheap things. I won’t be coming back and I won’t recommend this place to...

I had the worst meal and frankly took two bites and couldn’t eat it. I am certain I was brought the wrong meal, but our waitress left after our drinks and appetizer arrived because she had worked a long day and we were given another waiter. The others in my party loved their meal, but when I questioned my meal to a third person that brought our food out, they did not seem to understand. I had ordered grouper on a bed of potatoes and broccolini, which I saw at the next table and had asked what they ordered,. What I received was some other fish on a bed of red peppers (which I personally can’t digest). I did enjoy people watching since I couldn’t eat my meal and had it boxed up to let one of my friends eat for lunch the next day since a fourth person had to take our credit card because our waiter had been absent for an extended amount of time (all of our glasses were empty). We could have enjoyed another round of drinks if they had been on top of things. I was told such amazing things about this restaurant and my friends had come two nights prior and two were returning to let me experience it. Needless to say, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps my review would have been better if I had received what I ordered, had a person to follow through with the obvious wrong order and was able to eat. It’s sad that since Covid, places are having a hard time finding people to work and dealing with mixups and bad service are becoming the norm. I will say everyone that received what they ordered loved it. It is an expensive oops when you don’t. I came home and ate a frozen pizza. It was sad. What a...

By chance......I cannot believe I walked past this place heading towards our 2nd lunch choice as our first was closed. But the large sidewalk menu board reeled me back for a look. Disbelief,,......I called my friend over to take a look. The lunch menu choices read like a five star restaurant. But the prices read like a mom and pop shop. We decided to take a chance even though the outward appearance came across as a dark little bar. Once inside the first impression was that of a dark little bar. Plenty of friendly wait staff moving around however. Seated right away, drink order taken right away, food order taken upon drink delivery. Did we make a mistake......food took a little longer to arrive than expected. But, WORTH IT!!!! Presentation, portion and oh my god, taste. Not only written on the menu like a 5 Star, but my taste buds were confused as the setting cloaked the expectation of what had just arrived from the kitchen. Congrats to this place for hiding such an amazing chef. I've already scheduled return visits here with the family so that I can try at least six more of their dishes. As far as the bartender, I'm not much of a drinker, but my friend makes up for me, he was very pleased. But I did enjoy listening to the bartenders knowledge and description of drinks to those he was serving. His pleasant personality, neatly dressed appearance mixed with the dark framed glasses and well groomed graying facial hair makes you feel like you're a part of a high class mixology commercial. Anyway, make the trip, place on your to go list, this place is way more than it appears.

It was our first time eating here. We came because my friend who I went with recommended it, and honestly, 1920 Tavern did not disappoint. The food was soooo good, and the staff was so friendly and accommodating! It was my birthday, and when they brought out the desserts, they had brought it out with a candle and even got us an extra candle for the little cupcake my friend gifted me. Definitely a memorable experience, and I want to thank Reggie and Lucas who went out of their way to make sure we were set with everything and had a great time. There was also another staff member who we spoke with about the menu with, but I can't recall if he ever told us his name. But yes, I absolutely recommend if anyone is on the fence about coming here, DO IT! For anyone with gluten sesitivities, the menu is labeled to let you know what's safe to eat as well as the staff just being knowledgeable about their menu. We had gotten the smoked salmon crostinis as our appetizer. For our main course, we had the braised boneless short ribs, lamb chops, and seared ahi tuna as well as two additional sides. I can appreciate a place that compliments me whenever I order my lamb rare, haha. For dessert, we ordered bread pudding, the peanut butter cake with bacon pieces, and MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, the creme brulee. The caramelized sugar with the berry compote was absolutely everything! Everything was cooked to perfection, and I honestly can't wait to come back for another event or even just a casual dinner with friends or family. Thank you so much for the experience!

[TL;DR] Go on a Monday. Why? Half-off bottles of wine. We had the pleasure of a private dining experience. We were one of the crazy ones that went when it was supposed to snow. All it did was rain. Everyone stayed home though. It was great! Oversized booths, dark wood, and painted up mirrors define the atmosphere here. It's broken-in luxury, in a way. It's like an old, leather-bound book. Our waitress was amazing. She really knew her food. If only I remembered her name! Everything we ordered was based on her recommendation which was quite on point. The SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP was very tasty, served with crispy toast. Rather small though to share between more than two people. Your waistline might appreciate that. We tried the BLACKENED MAHI MAHI which is served with a goat cheese potato puree as they call it. Looks and tastes like mashed potatoes. :o) The fish was cooked tenderly and seasoned delicately. Not really my thing, honestly. I prefer fish that has more flavor. The crowning achievement of the night was the SHORT SMOKED DRY RUBBED CHICKEN. This is the thing you come here for and that which you will remember of the place. (Not the burger, the meatballs, the steak, the fish, the charcuterie, the oysters, etc.) This is what you need to get. It comes on a bed of triple cream mac and cheese mixed with crispy brussels sprouts. The creaminess pairs very well with the dry rub. They have a pretty impressive selection of whisky, including one of my favorite scotches -- Highland Park.
