Salt Factory is located in downtown Roswell. There are free parking if you look hard enough or you can choose to pay $5 across the street.
The restaurant is fairly small so they do not take reservations. I wouldn’t even recommend large parties. We arrived at 6:30 pm on a Friday (Party of 2). The place was already half way full. The tables were placed so close to each-other, I had to hover n maneuver around nearby table just to sit.
Our server greeted us promptly with our drinks. For appetizers, we got the Salmon Tostada, Caesar salad , and the She Crab Soup. After about 35 mins our appetizers finally arrived. The tostada came out pretty good, you really can’t mess up a salad, and my soup came out cold as if it sat at the window for a while. It took him a while to come check if the food was alright before I could get a new soup.
As we finished our appetizers we overheard the table next to us (Who came after us) saying that they need their check promptly as they were already behind schedule. The server (Not my server) came to offer free dessert as an apology for everything taking forever) if he didn’t hear that they were already late. (this would annoy the heck out of me) We waited about 15 mins for our entrees that never came. Our server came to drop off our checks and was puzzled when we said we haven’t gotten our meals. So another 15 minute goes by that we waited for our dinner. The server came back to tell me that the kitchen lost the ticket, and someone told him that the food already came out, and either way he will have our food out shortly. By now I’m super annoyed. Finally we got our dinner! It was about 7:15. My boyfriend got the special of the day which was Mahi fish and I got the Ahi Tuna Hong Kong Style. His dish was kind of weird as his fish came out hot but whatever his fish was sitting on was a cold salad type. The Ahi Tuna was pretty good but by the time I got it, I wasn’t even hungry any more.
I guess the server knew he messed up pretty bad because he brought over a complementary beer. I highly doubt that I...
Read moreTL;DR Very poor service, at least from Rebecca. Avoided our table and putting our food in. We left after 1hr 45min of no food.
Overall, this was a very unsatisfactory dinning experience. I was seated by the manager with my girlfriend. He was very polite when we walked in. We were seated with a waitress named Rebecca. Unfortunately, that is where the friendliness ended. Rebecca seemed very dismissive as soon as she greeted us. This included rolling her eyes when I asked about the burgers choices as well as just not listening to basic food requests. In addition to this, Rebecca was seemed to actively be avoiding us. We watched as she was very attentive to every other table in our section, but she somehow kept walking past our table without speaking or stopping. Our dining experience was about 1h 45min - 2hr in total and we spoke to her at most 4 times. Two of those were the result of our complaint.
After about 1hr 30min of waiting for our food, we noticed there was a large amount of patron that were seated roughly when we were had either left of was currently eating. We asked if the food was ready and she apologized that there was a back up. Considering that both the restaurant was now largely empty and the patrons who had arrived after us and ordered the same burgers were already well into their meals, that didn't seem like a valid excuse.
We waited another 15min or so to see if the food was almost done. Since she made it a habit to avoid our table I had to get up to find Rebecca and inquire about our food. She came back to the table and said that they were "putting the buns on now" I didn't realize it took 15min to properly "bun" a burger. We decided to just get the check and eat somewhere else. We agreed to pay for the two drinks we had, but the manager came out to reassure us that they were still "just now putting the buns on the burger". We declined. He comp'd the drinks and we walked out.
I definitely will not be patronizing salt factory...
Read moreI left a nice tip in the end, and then the family scolded me for doing so all the way home. First the food was very good at the Salt Factory… No issue there. The bartender was friendly and the food arrived on time so why was I scolded for tipping 20%+ ? Well … there were two other people seated at the bar and three people came to the bar for drinks That was the extent of the competition for the bartenders attention. This otherwise pleasant bartender did not make eye contact with us for 30 minutes after we finished our meal .. we had six finished plates serviceware and empty glasses sitting in front for -30 minutes. Also I wanted an Irish Coffee but I’m not a wave and EXCUSE ME kind of guy (ex-bartender). It’s a nice restaurant (crappy TV behind the bar if the game is on) Go there. The point of the review is an appeal to bartenders to get their faces out of the computer screen !! which requires your ass to face the customers-(btw) - and make eye contact with your clientele ! constantly ! They’ll relax if you’re busy. Nothing more aggravating than being ignored when you’re waiting for service sitting at bar… with three other customers taking up His time It’s a closed environment -‘ theater in the round - the customers are watching, waiting, hopefully patiently you’re on stage. Thirty minutes. Five customers including us at the bar. dirty plates, silverware napkins glassware. Uncleared No chance to order after dinner drinks before we got - the bill - which we...
