Went to Chelo last night and ordered a gin cocktail… I was bought the wrong drink by my server, Samantha.. when I mentioned I didn’t taste any gin she said oh, that’s the rum drink you were talking about. I did get the gin drink after, but was charged for both. My husband ordered the smoked old fashioned, which was brought to the table in a smoke box. Beautiful presentation and my husband loved it. We tried the borek, (cheese sticks appetizer) a little underfilled but delicious, and for mains, my husband chose lamb koobideh and I the chicken koobideh. I asked for an extra tomato with my meal as I love the meat tomato and rice with sumac in each bite experience. The meats were delicious, well seasoned, juicy. Perfect! Now the not so great, each main says choose your side of rice and it’s supposed to come with a tahdik base. Mine was soft… normally you can crack it with a smack from your spoon! I mentioned this to Samantha and her reply was oh, most people complain it’s too crispy, but no offer to rectify. I also asked for torshi and was told the restaurant didn’t have any. That’s a first for me, a Persian restaurant without torshi? Funnily enough, the table seated next to me asked for torshi as well. When my main dish arrived, I laughed at the size of the tomatoes. Normally, you get a large blistered tomato… I received two grape tomatoes lol. Again, another first for me. Other than that, the atmosphere is lovely although the tables are very close and crammed together so you hear all of your neighbouring tables conversations, but the meats were delicious. It probably won’t be my go to as Rumi’s has torshi and large tomatoes but it is relatively new and maybe the owner will make some adjustments. We dined early so we could get parking, there are about 10 spots if people park close together, but it’s tight. Thankfully we did secure a spot, but doubtful if you...
Read moreChelo in Roswell completely blew me away. I’ve been to plenty of Mediterranean spots before, but this was actually my first time dining at a Persian restaurant and if this is what Persian cuisine is like, I promise I’m catching up ASAP.
The vibe at Chelo is calm, elegant, and inviting. It’s the kind of place where you can really enjoy your meal it’s a romantic dinner, a client meeting, or just a night out to treat yourself. You can feel the care they put into everything, from the design to the service.
Now, let’s get to the food because wow. The flavors were layered, rich, and beautifully balanced. You can tell they don’t just cook, they craft every dish with intention. The Filet Barg with saffron rice was the absolute highlight. That filet mignon was soft, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. And the saffron rice? Delicate, fragrant, and full of that golden warmth. As we say back home, eso estaba a otro nivel.
The staff was friendly, 100% professional, and really made the experience even better. They knew their stuff and made great recommendations without being pushy.
As a Dominican who loves discovering new flavors, this was a refreshing experience refined, soulful, and full of surprises. If this is the standard for Persian cuisine, count me in. I’m officially on a mission now.
Would I go back? No question. Chelo gets a solid 5 stars plus and if you’re in Roswell or anywhere nearby, put it...
Read moreA Persian Culinary Gem – A 5-Star Experience From the moment I stepped into this exquisite Persian restaurant, I was completely enchanted. The atmosphere and decor were nothing short of breathtaking, striking a perfect balance between traditional Persian elegance and contemporary charm. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a vibrant celebration of Persian culture.
The warmth of the welcome I received from the staff was genuinely heartwarming. Their friendly and attentive service made me feel less like a customer and more like an honored guest in a Persian home, adding a personal touch to the entire dining experience.
While the entire menu seemed tempting, it was the 'Kabob Koobideh' that stole the show. This dish was a revelation – succulent ground lamb, expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection, showcasing the pinnacle of Persian culinary art. Every bite of the Kabob Koobideh was a delightful journey through rich, authentic flavors, perfectly capturing the essence of Persian cuisine.
The magic of the restaurant, however, extended far beyond its delicious food. It was an amalgamation of the lively atmosphere, the cozy setting, and the cultural richness that surrounded me. The gentle hum of traditional Persian music in the background, the intricate designs of the carpets, and the exquisite Persian artwork on the walls created an ambiance that was both inviting...
