Let me first start off by saying this is a hidden secret in Roswell that I knew nothing about. My daughter’s friend referred her to this place, so we decided to check it out, and I’m glad we did. When we first walked in, we were greeted by young lady by the name of YaYa She explained everything to us in regards to the daily specials, and if we wanted to order something besides the daily special. My oldest daughter ordered the fried flounder with green beans and mac & cheese and it comes with a cornbread muffin. If we had to rate the meal, she would rate the meal 8.5 out of 10 only because she wasn’t a fan of the green beans. My youngest daughter ordered the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and mac & cheese. She said her meal was amazing. It was delicious. She gave it a 10 out of 10. My grandson had the kids meal which was chicken tenders,, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. He normally doesn’t eat all his food. he ate a good portion of his food, and said it was really good so we would say he gave it at least a 9 out of 10. I ordered the pork chop meal. It came with two pork chops. One was smothered the other one was just fried with mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, collard greens, and mac and cheese. I would rate my food at 10 out of 10 it was amazing. It had just a right amount of seasoning, the pork chop was crispy and tender on the inside, and it was not dry. They have a lunch special Wednesday through Friday from 12 noon to 3 PM which comes with one meat and two sides and a drink for 12.99 plus Tax If you choose not to get the lunch special, the additional meals they run, maybe about round 17.99 plus tax So that would be the pork chop that I got today, which was two pork chops, two sides, and a soft drink and a corn muffin and it was 17.99 plus tax and I paid for two additional sides. The additional sides are five dollars apiece. That may seem high to you, but it was definitely worth it. I still have food left over that. I will be eating later today. You pay for what you get and at this establishment it was worth every penny that I spent. I can’t wait to go back again. They’re closed on Monday and Tuesday I apologize I don’t have the picture with the Sweet potatoes, they were in a...
Read moreI had high hopes for this business… unfortunately I find myself feeling upset. As a black healthcare professional I see patients (black) daily who suffer from heart disease, kidney disease and colon cancer. Due to the high amounts of processed foods, saturated fats, sodium filled foods and high consumption of meat protein peoples lives are declining at a rapid pace. I read the young lady’s bio who owns the business online and it’s a unique story. However let’s break the cycling of early deaths… yes our ancestors grew up eating these foods and recipes gets passed down generation after generation. I hate to be the “Downer” but life is more than grandmas pork chops, candy yams and fried chicken. Wake up people! Health is wealth and our African American community needs to do better.
The placement of this business is nice, however watching our brothers and sisters eating outside at the outdoor tables in front face full of grease eating & sucking on rib bones and chucking them in the trash is just what these white folks laugh and talk about…
I’d like to see you all implement healthier options so you don’t just target one crowd. Not everyone eats fried food and meat. Where’s the salads, fresh steamed veggies and fruit. Perhaps you can offer a grilled or baked chicken that’s not drowned in sugary bbq sauce, or a cold fresh pasta or potato salad.
By the way my fiancé and I thought the Mac n cheese taste very much like velveta cheese (which is a bland chewy taste), noodles and butter there was no seasoning. The fries were stale and sticky to touch and when you eat them like the oil it was cooked in was very old (w/old grease taste) and the cornbread is right out the box (jiffy).
The customer service was great but too long of a wait. Bathrooms were clean and the red chair/stool seem to have a loose or broken screw (safety hazard). We also didn’t appreciate the cigarette smokers sitting at the outdoor tables right in front of your business door (not everyone smokes as an asthmatic I had to take my food to go) perhaps you should put up a non...
Read moreI’m giving this place 2 stars only, because the 2 young ladies had amazing customer service. I made a call-in order on yesterday for 2 plates one fried chicken plate with Macaroni/cheese, and candied yams. The second plate had Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes/gravy, and green beans. I also bought a peach cobbler and a sweet potato pie that wasn’t worth the price for how small both deserts where. When I got there, they told me the food would be ready in 7 more minutes, but it was already 20 mins when I first placed the order over the phone. The fried chicken WAS NOT ALL THE WAY COOKED & WAS SUPER PINK ON THE INSIDE. The Macaroni/cheese was ok, and the candy yams taste like they were canned. The Salisbury steak was still a little pink on the inside, and I had to put it in the oven to finish cooking. The mashed potatoes had a lot of hard chunks in it, and taste like it was boxed mashed potatoes. The green beans were bland and nasty. I did love the cornbread muffins, and the peach cobbler was good. I literally threw the entire fried chicken plate in the garbage, because the Chicken wasn’t edible! I ate the Saulsberry steak and put seasoning on the green beans. They are most definitely not cooking the food when you call in, and are dropping the meat when you get there which will prolong your wait. There is no way the fried chicken was cooking for 27 minutes, and it STILL WAS NOT DONE/SUPER PINK ON THE INSIDE OF IT. This is how people get food poisoned, and this is obviously not their concern by the way their not properly cooking the food. I spent $49.52 on my entire order, and the food most definitely wasn’t worth a penny of my money. I was going to start coming here to try out different entrees, but with the 2 plates I bought showed me they aren’t worth patronizing again. This most definitely isn’t a soul food restaurant, because none of the sides are even HOMEMADE. Everything most definitely tastes like it came straight out of a can...
