I frequent this Starbucks location often. Usually between 8:30 - 9:00 am on weekday mornings. They are usually busy, however the cashiers are generally good about moving people through the lines pretty quickly. However, this Starbucks falls short on the entire reason I choose to go to Starbucks - consistency.
There is generally a different person working the bar every day. Sometimes the drinks taste just right, sometimes they are awful. Today for instance, I ordered an iced coffee. I saw my cup after the coffee was poured, and saw that it was steaming hot. I am not sure as to why - as generally the coffee they use for the iced coffee is not hot. You know. So it doesn't melt the ICE. The barista let it sit there for a few moments and cool (I suppose) then added some ice, which promptly melted. Then added some cream, then some more ice. Once my name was called - there was barely any ice remaining in the cup. I didn't feel this was something that was worthy of a remade drink - so I took it and left.
When I was driving to work, I took a large sip of the coffee through my straw, and was unpleasantly surprised when I got a mouth full of coffee grounds. I looked at the bottom of the cup, and it was full of coffee grounds. At this point, the coffee was undrinkable.
I also ordered a bacon breakfast sandwich. Once I arrived at work and started to eat the sandwich, I discovered they gave me a similar sandwich that contains ham.
These are two possibly isolated events that happened to me in the same day. However, this is not the first time that I have received an iced coffee from this store full of grounds. It has never happened to me at another store. I am not sure what it is that causes this to happen, but I am sure that Starbucks trains their employees to prevent it.
Most of the people who work at this store come off as a bit lazy. There is rarely any hustle behind the counter, even when they are busy. I would imagine it stems from management, as I have seen a Starbucks staffed by primarily young college students run more efficiently that this one. This is a large store, in a prime location, however Starbucks (and the customers) would be better served by better...
Read moreThis Starbucks has always been a great location and our drinks have usually been made correctly and consistently. I am starting to notice that some particular baristas are changing this store for the worst. I have never seen so much attitude as I have today. One barista in particular has a very bad attitude. She is a short African American woman. She is rude and terrible with customers. My boyfriend asked her to remake a drink because there was hardly any in the cup and it has never been made like that before. There was as much whipped cream in the cup as there was frappuccino. When he asked her about it, she spoke to him as if he were stupid. She had the worst demeanor of any Starbucks barista I've ever encountered. After she tried explaining that she was right, she took the drink from him and threw it in the trash (which was at least four feet away from her), making a scene. It was written all over her face that she did not want to be there. That really killed the atmosphere. There is a light-haired, medium-build guy who works at this location as well and he has an attitude too. Has no tact with customers. Seems like a stress case. I also witnessed another customer inform the crew that her drink was supposed to have no whipped cream but that she wasn't going to complain. They didn't even offer an apology to her. They barely acknowledged her. She asked if they had at least used 2% milk like she had ordered. They ignored her. She asked again and they just said "Yes." These baristas are TERRIBLE. If you don't hire good baristas, you might as well kiss your business goodbye. I can deal with bad drinks...I won't deal with bad service. The attitudes need to go. I don't visit Starbucks and pay good money for coffee to deal with McDonald's and Wendy's type customer service. I will say that the cashier (middle-aged woman with long, dark hair) is very friendly and easy going. She acknowledges her customers and is nice to chat with. Hire more...
Read moreAah, yes, Starbucks. Caribou Coffee comes close to being a competitor, but then again, not really. So here we are, at yet another Starbucks since this venue is really the monopolizing choice (and i say that warmly), with extreme limits for aternative cafés.
So then, you come inside this particular location, with warm greetings from the barista staff and the eventual, "what can I get started for you?" question pops up. You can order your drink, modify it to your fancy, and then choose how to enjoy it; in a paper cup, ceramic one, on the go, or at a table, or comfy chair.
My work as a profession has me sitting and waiting quite a bit. So then I pull out a book, laptop, or cellphone and enjoy a coffee during the day, or a hot tea at night. It is clear to me that there is a warm culture here at this Starbucks, because the patrons along side of the baristas, also are warm and enviting; smiles, nods, flicks of acquaintanceship, and even broaches into light conversation.
Yes! I said Starbucks is "monopolizing!" and I believe that the corporate offices know this too. So then, I believe that the cafés operate with that particular notion and are very responsible with it. I never found myself in general with Starbucks, especially this one with my third year of ongoing rank as a "regular" as one who is in any way being taken advantage of as most would feel at other businesses who are irresponsible with their acknowledgement of being the business bull.
Welcome to Starbucks! What can they get...
